Any advice what to keep in mind when buying used beolab 3. Prices still quite stable even for those bought 15-20 years ago. Anything to watch out for?

Newer the better..

The black soft touch can go bad on these, and particular earlier versions.

Great speaker for a great price. if used as fronts, a sub would be reccomended

I recently found a bargain pair of BNIB BL3’s in white. High serial number but with original Powerlink sockets.

These came from an ex-Dealer and were clearing stock. Unfortunately, I was under the impression BL3s always came with 1.8m of Powerlink cable and the doughnut stands?

I was told (but iI believe this to be BS) is B&O stopped doing this a while back and all stands were optional (yeah on a spherical loudspeaker).

All the stand options are looking very expensive compared to the speaker and the doughnuts are no longer made.

Thus, be careful of your stand options when buying.  And don’t buy from ( insert name and shame ) as they are rather poor service wise.

Thanks for your notes. This is helpful.

When you say "but with original PL sockets", what do you mean? Are there two different versions with different PL sockets?

Does anyone know whether the "final edition" of the BL3 was for real? Never saw them at a dealer and also never pre-owned?

Not a 100% certain but most BeoLab produced had duplicate 8 pin DIN sockets

The BL3 had only one because of their size, however, IIRC, the DIN sockets on the very last models may have been changed for the RJ45 type sockets.

They may also have not?

Hi,

Look here for a cheap alternative to donuts,

As for the stand, I'm pretty sure that with a little creativity it should be easy to replace the original stands Wink

That is what the sales person suggested.

I cant post my response to that on this forum.

Great idea to show off nearly 3ks worth of speaker with a couple of tatty coits.

If the store I purchased these from is no longer B&o affiliated.....pretty easy to see why
