A thought occured to me that if the autosesnse circuits used in the Beolab Active speakers could somehow replace the ML circuits in a Beolab 3500 and 2000. An airplay device could then be attached and the speakers used as an airplay device or soundbar?

I suspect there are complex technical reasons why this isn't possible but thought I would throw it out there

Should be possible with this product https://almando.com/index.php/b-o/beolab-3500-tv-soundbar/almando-masterplay.html

Haven’t tried it myself, but i am using the power link switch from this company for my setup and am very satisfied with that product

Hi Andrew,

Masterlink relies on a data "handshake" between the system and speaker, so there isn't a simple "sensing" process with the Beolab 2000 and 3500 as would be the case with a Powerlink speaker.

However, if you don't mind using a B&O remote to activate the speakers before first use, then you can easily plug a streaming music player with a headphone socket (eg. Airport Express, Chromecast Audio, etc) into these speakers via these cables:-

Beolab 2000 cable: https://soundsheavenly.com/airport-express/164-2495-ipodtvairport-express-to-beolab-2000.html#/2-length-1m

Beolab 3500 cable: https://soundsheavenly.com/airport-express/155-2345-ipodtvairport-express-to-beolab-3500-mk2-cable.html#/2-length-1m/63-beolab_3500_version-mark_2

Hope this helps.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.

Thanks Steve - I found that I had a spare beolink converter so I hooked that up to the Beolab 2500 and connected it to a Toslink to Analogues converter via the AUX IN - now I am able to control my TV with a Beo4 via a lintronic box and have the sound come out of the Beolab 2000 placed behind it - it works superbly and the sound quality if much better than the Panasonic Sound bar I purchased!. It will do anyway until I get a proper B&O TV again. The problem I've found with Panasonic Sound Bar was that to turning the volume up and down takes forever whereas the B&O TV's and stereo's are just that much faster and better sound quality in the first place. Anyway, it's one way of giving these old products a second lease of life - I would have used the 3500 underneath the TV as that would look better but it was too wide for the cabinet.
