Hi, just looking for some advice. I have a BS3000, connected to an Avant and then to some Penta II's. I use Apple TV digitally connected to the Avant and the sound is really good, I also use an airport express to digitally stream music via the 3000 to the Penta's - not as good sounding but ok and useful if listening to it in other rooms. I don't play CD's at all and use the 3000 as a radio through the bedroom TV and kitchen BL2000. I'm not bothered about surround sound or anything in the living room as I mainly have the Avant on Speakers 1 for watching films.
So if I buy a Playmaker will the sound be that much better when streaming than it currently is?, I like the thought of less wires under the carpets and simplicity of operation, also am I right that I could change the TV for a smart one and simply plug the audio out into playmaker?
Instead of buying a Playmaker i would rather suggest adding a DAC (Digital - Analog Converter)
Personally i made good experience with Cambridge DacMagic and Arcam rDAC

I was just pondering the same decision and settled on the playmaker.
What I don't like about it is, that it is not supporting wifi N standard but only the older B&G ones. I think some older network routers can be slowed down by it, i.e. it impacts all devices on the network. Not sure if that is true, but that was a recommendation I heard at some point in time when I made the move to N.
That said, having the ability to control the volume on the playmaker is nice. When streaming from Ipad or Iphone the volume control is fluid, when using Itunes though there is a delay in response and that makes it hard to set a proper level, so that is where the volume wheel comes in really handy.
I haven't played with the Beo4 yet, am using playmaker stand alone but so far I am very happy with it.
Sound is very decent, am using Beolab 4's for now
