Chromecast Audio linked to the BC2 base unit auxiliary solves the WiFi/ web radio/ streaming issue, but I've no idea about Bluetooth.

And just to add.... before I got my hands on a Chromecast Audio I just used an old mobile phone on WiFi and connected to the auxiliary.

The most cost effective way is to buy a bluetooth mudle with mini jack for out audio output. This can easily be connected to any audio-in at the BeoCenter. Cost effective because such modules are available for less than €10,-

But! Bleutooth is inferior for audio streaming to WiFi. It was never designed to stream audio, and makes use of compression which causes loss of audio quality. I would therefor always recommend to look for a WiFi-based product to stream audio. Better quality and better functionality like multiroom, etc.

Thank you for your input- much appreciated.  As I am not familiar with Chromecast audio I will study.  Hopefully the dongle or whatever device is required can be hidden as I have the lovely Beocenter 2 on a stand so it "floats" in space and would hate to spoil the aesthetic with a hanging device from the headphone  port.  I do have a box on the floor Aux ports (left and right-- could this be used?).   I can send photo as I forgot the name of the device.  The gear in in an apt in NYC where one of my children lives (I am living in Europe) so I forgot about trying to 'upgrade' the lovely sound machine (especially the Beolab 9s)

While I am asking, is there a way to also a way to use the BeoLab 9s for TV sound-- that would be terrific.

The "box" has powerlink inputs a masterlink input an AV (what looks like scat) input as well.  Approx. 18 inches x 3 x 7in tall.  The black covering is a sort of rubberized (unfortunately now sticky).

Many thanks

The auxiliary connection is in your rectangular base box. The Chromecast Audio is a tiny puck like device which you set using a mobile phone or iPad app.

Chromcast Audio pucks were going to be discontinued in favour of speakers with Chromecast already built in, but you can still find new pucks on the internet for £21 or less.

Contact Steve at Sounds Heavenly about supplementary cables and also about connecting speakers to your TV.

Thanks Graham

i have the Beocenter 2 socket box (black floor box) which only has 1 aux in (RCA right and left).  Is there a way to get a splitter or hub so I could wire TV into this so I could choose, music via wifi or tv?  Also if I replace tv could the tv sound be broadcast via wifi to same Chromecast? That might solve things?

does anyone know a very competent wiring guru in Or near London, UK to assist in my wiring issues with Moment, Beolab 5, NAS and Beo 9000.

i have leaned the hard way with “experts” and not being able to get proper functionality. So would welcome any tips on someone who knows the Moment and linking with other BO devices when you DONT have a BO tv as “hub”.  Previously we had a BO tv without Moment and 9000 and Beolab 5 and  Beolab 3s and it all worked flawlessly, BO Geneva sorted it out.

If you want to use Bluetooth with good sound quality you must use a Bluetooth receiver with "aptX" support. Of course your phone/tablet/computer must support that codec, too.

Benefit of Bluetooth: It works with EVERY device that can send audio over Bluetooth.
With Wifi solutions you are dependent on either Google (Chromecast) or Apple (Airplay).

A very good Bluetooth-Receiver: Yamaha YBA-11

Please forgive the “dumb question”— as I don’t stream much, mostly kids...is using wifi superior quality sound to Bluetooth?

goal is when kids come home they can quickly and easily take advantage of a Beolab 5 and 9s to listen to “their” music

the 9s are connected via Moment and home  wifi (200mbs)

thanks

Not sure I can advise on this. My BC2 takes the Chromecast via the connectors in the base/socket box, and puts all sound (from all BC2 sources) out to the TV.

Hi Graham,

My BL9 are connected to the socket unit which in turn is connect to the BC2.  The BL9 use PowerLink connection.  So nothing yet to connect to TV-- which I assume I could theoretically use the available AUX IN  RCA Left and Right.  Does this mean if I find a way to connect the RCA L+R to TV speaker out (R+L) I could simply turn on the BC2 and select AUX and it would play TV, but if I wanted to stream then need to obviously remove TV cable and insert Chromecast Audio and play again via AUX.  I was hoping to figure out a way to play both by simply selecting and not having to remove cables each time.  Does that make sense?  Thanks, Ed

Difficult to add anything else.  Consult the B&O manuals that came with your BC2 and speakers. If you don't have them then they are available on this site with an upgraded membership.

For specific cabling options I would always check whether Steve at Sounds Heavenly has already worked out a solution to this or a similar problem.

Good luck!

Graham
