Hi guys,

I have a fried Eprom Beosound 3000 and an aesthetically damaged Beocenter 2300.
I managed to swap all the panels and I now can enjoy a beautiful working Beocenter 2300.

I wonder if there is another parts I can swap? I believe i can swap the CD unit (which is dying on the 2300)  but my question is more towards the RDS radio unit which is standard in BS300 and Optional in my BC2300.

Of course any input on other parts I can exchange to upgrade the 2300 will be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

You can't always change the CD mechanism from the BS3000 to the 2300. Newer drives requires a different software from the Beosound. So, probably the BC2300 will not support the newer drive from the BS3000. Small change there is.

Look at the tuner board from the BS3000. There are different versions. Same counts here as it comes to software. Newer tuners are not supported by the BC2300. The RDS unit be build inside the BC2300 without any problems. It's a separate unit which can be placed on top of the BC2300 tuner board. The unit is the same as used inside a BM7000. An Ouverture has the RDS mostly build inside. So you take one from an Ouverture and place that one in the BC2300.

I would have saved the BS3000. Would have saved a lot of time and has ML at the back.

Thank you Beobuddy for your comprehensive answer.

That's sad to read that about the CD mechanism. Hopefully I'm lucky and the two unit are compatible.
Both centers are early ones: the 3000 has small clamper and the 2300 has an early software version (1.2 I believe).

So far, changing the front panel has not damaged the BS3000 in any way so if one day an easy fix comes for the fried Eprom I still should be able to put it back together. Before I, get the 2300 it was just stored somewhere without any use, So…

A fried Eprom is rare. An Eprom can be ordered or reproduced. Mostly the upc-board itself is the problem.

With which serialnumber starts your BS3000? Probably starting with 15xxxx?

I understood that the fix for that problem was to expensive to worth it. I'de like to see it working again !.

Yes, serial N° 1541XXXX - Type 2671 - SW 1.3
