Hi all I am having issues as I want to clean some dust inside the screen but after trying what I read about pushing on the plastic seals I am not getting anywhere at all as they don't budge. Any ideas? thanks

Not sure what you mean with "plastic seals", but it sounds like you are trying to follow the advice on the bigger 28" models. The 21" is completely different. The screen is made of plastic and it bends. You need to pull it out from the middle of the lower edge, there's a small slot where you can get under it. Be careful as it takes a frightening amount of force.

It is installed with one vertical edge in first, then bend the screen so that you get the opposite edge to slot in. Expect to lose the skin from a few fingertips at this stage as well.

Just got home and checked my MX4000 - there is no sign of the slot I was talking about. That must've been on the MX2000. Nevertheless, the point to start from is the middle of the lower edge.

If the telly has been in a dusty (not to mention smoking) environment, cleaning underneath can really brighten up the day so to speak!

This actually worked!,  just pop the side panels off (2 clips toward the top and bottom of the plastic panels near to where B's are) and the screen comes away... it was actually glass (I imagined it was plastic)

Thanks very much to everyone who helped.

Glad to hear it was a success, but now I'm confused. Are we actually talking about an MX4000?

I just want to get this exactly right for other people who read this thread later to save anybody from breaking their contrast screen. If it really is glass, the procedure in the service manuall will surely crack it!

Mine certainly is plastic. Very hard and stiff, but still plastic. Anyway, it's possible it's easier to remove it by disassembling the frame rather than in the "correct way" Smile

Yes -the later models of the 4000 has glass screen -and so offcourse the 4002.
The description in the manual is for the older models with plastic screen.

(edit) And there's no screws like on the MX 6000/7000 models.
