Hello dear Beoworlders,
unfortunately one of my cheaply acquired BL6000 is acting up.
Sometimes it sounds really really bad. Then the sound is muffled and seems to have static or low resolution, the tweeter does not seem to work at all!
But when i flick around the Powerlink selector switch it returns to work normally like the other one. Sadly after a while it returns to sound horrible. (Worn/oxidized contacts in the switch maybe??)
I recently refoamed and redampened the speakers to my best knowledge. I am not an electronics expert but a determined to DIY as my local Dealer is very uncooperative.
Any help would be great!
Thank you very much in advance
Carlo
I noticed that sometimes wiggling on of the Powerlink Sockets has the same effect.
Would be great if somebody could help!
Best
I can't suggest an answer, but I do have a used amp with the PL connections on in my spares 'armoury' if it transpires there's a problem internally
Current b and o Products
beosound 5 encore, beolabs 6000, beogram 4500, playmaker mk1
I finally got around to disassemble the speaker and clean the I/O Board and the switch with contact cleaner.
Unfortunately to no effect. I didn't notice any loose connections with the naked eye.
Furthermore I noticed that cranking up the volume had the same effect as wiggling the selector switch: Suddenly they sound fine. And keep sounding fine until they are switched off for a couple of hours.
Sounds like bad connection at some point + bad capacitors..
just a hint :)
Hey Guys!
Thank you for your advice!
In fact it was a loose connection. The pins on the connector from the amp-board to the drivers were bent back and failed to make good contact.
Speakers seem to be fine now and I am a happy Beoworlder!
Best wishes
