Hi,

I have difficulty in identifying if I have a Faulty BeoSytem 3, Or BeoVision 4 or both.

I have 2 questions:

1) Is it possible to connect a BeoSystem 3 to an LCD or TFT and be able to see some picture to see if it is working or not.

2) Most probably the IR is faulty on the BeoVision4. Can I hook up an external IR sensor to the jack socket IR-IN? If so is it a simple IR diode connection?

I really appreciate some details to get going on.

Hi,

Ad 1: I thik yes, it is possible to connect a standard display to check picture.

Ad 2: you can additional IR input. It is not as simple as connecting an IR diode. You have to use a B&O IR eye (the version with 3.5 mm plug).

I think that would be wise troubleshooting. If the BeoVision 4 was faulty or if the control cable between the BeoVision 4 and BeoSystem 3 is faulty, the commands from the Beo4 remote will not be reaching the BeoSystem 3.

If would be a good idea to check the BeoSystem 3 by using an external IR receiver. As I mentioned before, the wires inside the IR sensor are very fragile and break or pull out of their connection quite easily. You should examine them to make sure the connections are good. Also, the inputs on the BeoSystem 3 can be a little confusing. If you haven't already, you should download the user guide

Once you have an external IR receiver connected to the BeoSystem 3, you can access the settings by pressing MENU, MENU on the Beo4.Once you have entered that, pressing 0,0, GO will take you to more advanced settings. Use caution in making changes in the advanced system settings, though.

Thanks for your replies Hfat and Beojeff.

I have downloaded the user and service manuals and was reading again and again.

For external IR I found this linkinteresting http://www.beoworld.org/beotech/ir_eye_wiring.htm

I will everybody know of any progress when I visit the customer again as the equipment is all there.

I am starting a new Thread as I need to know how to take off the BeoVision 4 Plasma from its BeoVision 4 and support stand as it is damn heavy to lift and probably  I am doing something wrong.
