Are your speakers connected to speaker set 1? (Only set 1 is muted locally. Set 2 is for linked rooms, allowing them to play and mute where they are).Do you remember to store the sound settings once set?

I just checked mine - I can't hear any motor noise at all, and it's about 3 seconds between switching off and the relay clicking.
If you are sure, you are storing settings the right way, I suggest you check the condition of the backup battery.Do you hear a faint click from inside the Beocenter, when you activate and deactivate mute?Does the mute light come on and off?
Sounds like the muting is working as it should, then.Replace the backup battery.Do be careful when working inside the processor casing (ESD-safe!) and also when soldering around the lithium cell. They can go off like a pistol shot.
