Hey guys, I’ve had by bc9500 for a long time now and don’t o ow when the issue started exactly but when I push the mute button, the volume stays on and at the same level. I also noticed that if I turn it off and back on I have to set the treble and bass again each time.

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. I’m fairly handy but am no good with diagrams/schematics so if there are capacitors/resistors to check/replace specifics would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Are your speakers connected to speaker set 1? (Only set 1 is muted locally. Set 2 is for linked rooms, allowing them to play and mute where they are).
Do you remember to store the sound settings once set?

Hello Martin,

Yes, I remember to store/program settings. Of course I could be doing it wrong as human error is always a possibility.

With the mute, I have all 4 speaker outputs connected with regular (+) and (-) wire and none of them get quiet when I activate mute.

I just checked mine - I can't hear any motor noise at all, and it's about 3 seconds between switching off and  the relay clicking.

If you are sure, you are storing settings the right way, I suggest you check the condition of the backup battery.
Do you hear a faint click from inside the Beocenter, when you activate and deactivate mute?
Does the mute light come on and off?

Yes, I hear a click with mute and you are correct, only some speakers get quiet. But still isn’t storing settings. This coupled with my penta speaker issues has me on suicide watch lol.

So, my brothers is the one mute doesn’t work on, my bad lol. And one Chanel is out so it’s likely the muting relay and capacitors? If so, I was told you can sell these to me so I don’t have to search the planet. I’d probably buy two sets in anticipation of mine going bad eventually also.

Also, I’d like to recap and update everything in my penta 1’s (6603). You have all the caps and so on that should be done while in there that you can sell me?

Thanks in advance and you are welcome to text, call or email me.

Sounds like the muting is working as it should, then.

Replace the backup battery.
Do be careful when working inside the processor casing (ESD-safe!) and also when soldering around the lithium cell.
They can go off like a pistol shot.

Cool. Looking to fix my bc9500 backup battery, then on my brothers bc9500 his muring legit is out and his backup battery is also bad. I think the muting is why his other speaker Chanel is working. Do you sell these parts?

I’m also looking to update two beosound pentas (6603). Want to update/upgrade capacitors and everything else you talked about in another thread as a kit for the power supply as well as the amplifiers/crossovers. I’d really love to gain the additional input like the penta 2’s and 3’s have, and the newer displays if you happen to have what’s needed for this stuff. If not, then just the kits for everything else.

Lmk
