BL17 + Core vs BL17 + Essence mk2 ?

The BL17 can be fed via Powerlink (analog) or Toslink (digital).

In this last case, I suppose the internal DAC of the BL17 is used...

The 2 configurations I would like to compare are:

Core (Optical out) - daisychain fiber wiring - BL17 (Toslink in/out)

Essence mk2 (PL 1&2 out) - Powerlink - BL17

So my question is: do you know if there is an audible difference between the 2 setups?

i.e. is the BL17 DAC better than the Essence mk2 DAC?

I can not specifically answer your questions, but will give you my experience with both. I have an Essence MKII connected by Power Link to a pair of Beolab 4000s. Works and sounds great. I also have a Core connected by optical to a pair of Beolab 50s, previously to Beolab 20s. Again, works and sounds great. I don’t know anything about the technical differences and can’t really compare the sound quality given the totally different speakers.
