I have to move this puppy across country, but I can't seem to remove the platter from the base. How is that done? I have the original packaging, so do even need to do this? Help appreciated!

Always take off the platter when shipping. (Except for the models where it can't be done just like that, Beogram 1000, 1200...)
Beogram 3404; The platter lifts right off. It may bind a bit though.

I hope you have been able to remove your platter by now. But, if not, Dillen is exactly correct.  Not removing the platter can lead to disaster.

I found that it is a bit tricky, depending on adjustments, but you get your fingers under the platter edge and it should lift straight up. It is possible that it is sticking a bit to  the flywheel underneath.

Don't forget to lock the base using the 3 transport screws. They will lock by turning in the direction opposite of what most people guess. They "lock up" not "lock down". If the mechanism doesn't bounce you have it right, you might say.

Best of luck to you!
