Yesterday I was in Copenhagen and had a look at both the Stage and the Harmony. Stage impressed me very much. Very powerful product. Harmony is beautiful and very efficient space wise, you get a 77” screen in the space of the 65” Eclipse. Now I see why they will stop at 65” for the Harmony, a 55” would look very small and weird on the floor stand.

Neat feature of the C9 integration is that if the TV is playing and you select another source (via app or BR1), tv automatically switches off and the speaker uses a different sound mode.

Hi Beoworlders,

I have just returned from B&O Cambridge, where I have spent the day carrying out audio tests on the Beosound Stage.  The aim was to definitively answer the following questions:-

1) What is the bass extension of the Stage - ie. does it REALLY not require a subwoofer?

2) What is the latency of the Stage via its analogue input - ie. is it REALLY unsuitable for use with an AV receiver?

The results completely took me by surprise - I have videoed the tests and these will be posted at https://youtube.com/soundsheavenlycables over the weekend......

Watch this space Whistle

Kind regards, Steve.

I popped into B&O Windsor on Friday and had a quick listen to the stage.

For the size it was pretty impressive, however, it does sound like a unit with small bass drivers producing bass though cleaver design, rather than a true effortless bass you get with a nice 8-10" driver. Which I guess was always to be expected. But although it went low, the beats always sounded like they had that hard edge you get around 80hz with an artificial extension.

It reminded me of a pair of Sonos Play 5's, which is not a bad thing. But I would personally want to be able to plug my sub in it.
I 'might' grab one for my sitting room, but it would not fill my main room and be deep enough, so the lack of sub out is a shame.

It is a very, very nicely designed bit of kit though with a lot of 'want' factor to it.

I'm seriously considering the Stage as a standalone speaker for the living room. Looks good, decent price, and hopefully sounds good

Thinking along the same lines, the Stage could be a great speaker solution in some audio-only setups or secondary rooms.

I had a good listen to the Stage at the amazing Berlin B&O store.

I'd have to say I'm a little disappointed as a standalone speaker. The dealer said he thinks it's very similar to the A6 and I'd say I'd agree (and I sold my A6 as I didn't like the experience!).

We compared it to the Edge and A9 and it doesn't get close. The A9 is a far better speaker for roughly the same price, so if I was going to buy another standalone speaker in the future, it would be the A9 again I think.

But, the A9 has an issue - those stupid 4 LED lights you see under the fret. The dealer didn't know how to turn them off!

Did he have it set up properly? It sounds like the sound preset was wrong to me. The tv preset is flimsey for music and film, i had the same watching a movie and changed the preset and had a mini jump scareStick out tongue

I think you have to disable Google Assistant to shut of the lights.....

I went to two sores recently and the experience could not be more different! Both stores belong to bigger chains with long B&O history. First shop had 2 Stages installed, one flat on a sideboard, the other wall hanging. The sound was just awesome! Also the product was very well explained and demoed. The second shop had one stage below a LG C9 55, but not configured to operate with the Beoremote. Also the sound was not good for whatever reason, and the guy had not a real idea how to demo it.

At the first shop, strong buy, second shop, not impressed, would have not bought...

the other way around, when google is on the light only come on when you say ''hey google''. if you turn the mic off the 4 lights will glow red and will stay on. also on occasion ''she'' will tell you the mic is off. My Bs1 does the same.

One thing I will say is the Berlin store had two and showed me how different the Stage is without a wall behind - freestanding it's strangely far better than it is with a TV on a wall behind it.

So your experience is that the "flat" position is the better?

They were both flat. But one had a wall behind and TV installed and other was completely freestanding in the room and sounded much better. He pointed out the difference, demonstrated and, it's true it sounds much better/wider freestanding. So odd.

The Berlin store is the most incredible B&O store I've ever seen - I took quite a lot of photos and promised I'd get them up here.

I was a little embarrassed as the guy in the store spent ages showing me the differences between the Stage, Edge and A9 and I'm pretty sure he knew I wouldn't be buying from the store. I was there over an hour!

And in the Hamburg store, which was smaller than Berlin, but still an impressive store.

The Berlin store is like a B&O HQ showroom. They have multiple versions of each product - 3 Eclipse's, an A9 wall-mounted and on the floor, at least two Edge's, two Stage's in various positions etc etc.

Will try and get photos up. Worst thing about this forum, for me, is that getting multiple photos up, in a gallery format, isn't easy.

I think the best option is to use the mobile app if you have an iPhone and the pictures on that phone or on a cloud.

When I want to do that, I (on my iPad) use the app PicCollage to ‘merge’ more pics into one.

You can easily upload pics from the ‘oldshool’ website, but just one at the time.
