Hi everyone!

So i've just purchased a pair of Beolab 4000s exciting times! At the moment i'm only playing music from my phone or laptop or phone using a RCA to jack adapter but i really want to do these speakers justice would buying a DAC help?? And would it be better if i used the B&O powerlink cables with a converter? Or to really do them justice should i just purchase a record player?

Cheers! Rory

The DAC on an Apple AirPort Express should be fine if you are streaming, A great low cost DAC is Shiit Modi. You might need to add a subwoofer to improve the audio in my humble opinion more than a DAC. Powerlink from my experience has no effect on audio quality.

B&O in my life 😊:

  • Beolab 8002 + Beolab 2 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Office)
  • Beolab 6000 + Beolab 11 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Bedroom)
  • Beoplay A9 Mk2 (Living Room)
  • Beosound 1 with wireless dock (Portable)
  • Beosound Balance (Dining)
  • Beoplay H95 (Focused listening, travel)
  • Beoplay H9 (3rd gen) (retired)
  • Beoplay P6 (Portable)
  • Beotime wall clock (hallway entrance)
  • BMW X5 50i with B&O Audio Package (Commute/drive)

I agree with Jeff that there's really no audible difference (that I could hear) between using the PL or line-in of the BL4000.  The PL might work better for very long wire runs (since it's a balanced signal).
