I have a question about lubrication. Does the cam wheel needs it? As much I can see there is no trace of oil on any of the plastic parts.
Since it is my first 2000(I had 1000 before) I wonder how loose the tonearm should be at the base. Mine is rather loose - when I hold the arm-wand I can wiggle the arm base up and down and sideways - it is not the suspension wobble, but the arm itself. I have many turntables and I have seen all the base bearings pretty snug.
A little follow-up. I watched some videos and did some more reading and decided to lube parts where I see some friction. I just wonder is was so dry. Maybe previous owner cleaned it, but forgot to lubricate.
Anyway, it works rather well and I am surprised how dynamic the sound really is. I was listening my favourite Shure M75 on Thorens 165. When I got Beo set up I took the record off the Thorens and put on Beo. Sound just opened up, filled the space. Had to turn down my subwoofer - too much bass.
So all is well and maybe tonearm is designed to be loose - just sitting on the bearing by gravity.
One this is not working though. LIFT does not work when record is in play. You can not interrupt the cycle. There I would like to get some advise. I have not found this in old treads.
Never lubricate the cam wheels.All the little arms and levers have to be lose and move freely.

OK, but before lubrication, nothing did not work really or did erratically. For instance where tonearm lever with little wheel moves between two steel rods does much easily now than before. Cam wheel got just a thin smear - I can clean it off.
Well at this point I would need help with some adjustments.
I got the service manual where servicing procedures are explained. However there is no description on what symptoms given adjustment should be carried out. The problems I have:
1) LIFT button needs be pressed and hold for a second to engage the cycle otherwise only platter starts rotating but tonearm stay locked(it is difficult to move) at start position. Some times repeated pressing LIFT will start the arm. Sometimes I need to move the arm over the record and then LIFT will start the cycle.
2) It is impossible to cue up the tonearm while it's tracking. Pressing the LIFT button does no do anything.
I reply to my own question.
After careful examination I decided that the metal rod does not turn enough to lift the white plastic lever at the cam wheel. So I enlarged the gap where the wire bends back in the end very carefully. So now the turn radius is more and it lifts the lever enough to release it. Sorry, I did not take pictures. If you have the same problems and need more precise guidance I would be happy to explain further. Now all the functions work well.
BTW I left lubricating as I had before - just a light smear on cam wheel and other rubbing parts and tiny drop of sewing machine oil on turning parts(shafts, rolls etc)
