I have a problem with my Beosound 1. When I connect an IPAD to hear through the Beo 1 i get a noisy hum and the sound of the IPOD comes very low. Any idea of what it can be?
Precisely how are you connecting the two together?

You should connect your Apple product to the Beosound 1 via the AUX socket underneath.You can see this on page four of the Beosound 1 manual, which is available from BEOWORLD, should you not have it.
I would suggest a double-check of your cable, the IPAD connection end, and the AUX connection end. If it persists, try another cable set.
I use this at a rental property of ours in Brasil for a Beosound 6, IPAD, Laptop, ASUS tablet, and for SAT & local television. The Beosound 1 also makes a very nice Home Theatre sound system.
When the Beosound 1 first arrived for a demonstration display at the Frankfurt Bang & Olufsen store, one of the Danish representatives advised using it this way " for your MP3 device. "
I did not know what he was talking about, nor own one obviously until much later. B&O had then marketed an MP3 player, a rather risky venture at the time (which people forget) as the RIAA had previously sued the first MP3 manufacturer in North America for copyright infringement. The B&O Mp3 player was sold two years prior to the introduction of the Apple IPOD, when the specter of the RIAA had been settled, and Apple began to suggest the accepted .99 cent per track standard.
Over the years I have used a number of mini-jack to DIN cables, most of which wore out over time. Your symptoms sound as though a wire has pulled out, or the line in is using the headphone jack outlet. I have excellent and lasting results using a robust cable set made specifically for this application, offered by Sounds Heavenly, one of our sponsors. Just pull the cable lay to the back of the Beosound 1, rather than pinch it in front, which could also cause problems.

I'm glad you like the cable I sent! This is by far my most popular cable, so a lot of development work has gone into the choice of materials and connectors.
Most issues with poor sound quality from portable music players are due to a low volume level, or a poor connection between the player and the audio system. On most Apple products (eg. iPod, iPad, iPhone, etc), you will need to open iTunes and disable the Volume Limiter to get the full range of volume available.
Please set the iPod volume to maximum when connecting to the Beosound 1 – this is normal when using a portable music player with a home audio system due to the low output levels produced by the iPod.
To listen to the iPod, simply press the two arrow markers either side of the CD button at the same time, or select "A.AUX" on your Beo4 remote control by pressing the "LIST" button until the display shows "A.AUX", then pressing "GO".
