Hi all!

I have a couple of questions, I recently both a second hand pair of BL5 Serial numbers above 2XXXXXXX, had to replace tweeter and mid range on one of them. I also bought a Beolab 4 (the one with the V.Tape button).

Question 1: do I need a specific Bio 4 generation to run and setup the BL5s? I was able to choose option 1 to run my setup but I don't know if I will need seething also so I better het a newer version of the Beolab 4

Question 2: one of the speakers (right side) after minutes of turn them on stops receiving orders from the remote. at the beginning both speakers change volume at the same time but after a while can't change volume and even turning the speaker off. what could that be?

I'm afraid that may be I bought a Lemon fo speakers.

My setup is as follows:

Sony hires player model UHP-H1 connected via SPDIF to a Cambridge DacMagic Plus from there I'm running a hight quality digital cable SPDF to the right speaker (side selector as right speaker) and from that speaker to the left side speaker using a SPDF cable I have a sync cable between the speakers (inverted mini plug) and controlling ON/OFF/volume with the Beo 4

I ordered a Beosound core with essence remote to use controller instead the Beo 4, I order a couple of cable from Steve at SoundsHeavenly ( on there way ) but as for right know that what im using. Am I doing something wrong with that setup? what the speaker is not responding to the remote after a while?

As for the condition of the speakers and the Beo4-controlling I can’t say anything.

But here is a tip, if you want to go digital from the Core to the BL5’s.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Fascinating, MM.

Do the BL5s have to be in Option 1 or 0?

In other words, do you have to turn them on first with a Beo4, or will they receive a “CD” command from the Core and turn on automatically?

HI  Lawrence,

I managed to set the BL5 on option 1, although it took me a while because my BEO 4 is old and I had to figure it out to find option inside all the menus.

I don't have the Beosound core yet. I just order it. what I'm using  right know is the Cambridge DAC and the hi res player and the BL5 in option 1 running with SPDF cables and sync cable.

the button that works to turn them on and off is RADIO, cd does nothing to the BL5 in my case.

but it is really frustrating that one of the speakers stops changing volume and not been able to turn it off the only way is to disconnected from the mains and the obvious pop sound when doing that. so if ash the begingn I raise the volume after 5 minus I will no t be able to lower it down on one speaker.

I don’t have it fixed at 48, I’ll do it. Do you think that could be the problem of the speaker not responding to the remote?
