Hi Beoworlders,

Just a quick question - I have found a good quality wireless (wi-fi and bluetooth) music streamer with a Powerlink socket for direct connection to Beolab speakers - would any of the group members be interested if I made a video to explain how it works?

You can see details of the streamer here: https://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/179-wireless-music-streamer-for-beolab-speakers-and-beosound-music-systems.html

Please let me know what you think!

Kind regards, Steve.

That's very cool, but I have to ask, even though it has a DIN out, does it have the trigger signals needed to turn on a pair of Beolabs or is it just the audio signals?

Hi Jeff,

Yes, this is a proper Powerlink socket - the first thing I did was to plug in my Beolab 3000s and Penta 3s when I got the streamer - they came straight to life when the music started to play so the trigger signals are present and correct!

There are also 3.5mm minijack inputs and outputs as well (volume controlled via the app, or from the buttons on the top of the streamer).

Kind regards, Steve.

Just ordered one Steve, thanks! Hopefully this will solve a short term problem I have, my Beolink Wireless 1's have totally crapped out and I have no music in the dining/sunroom/kitchen area. I plan on hooking this up to my BL8000s. Eventually I have a BM2400 I'm restoring that might well live in here but a device that talks powerlink will be good to have.

Thanks Jeff,

This will be in the post to you in the morning with instructions included.  Please let me know what you think when it arrives!

It should also work with the BM2400 once you have that ready, as it can connect via the Tape input.

Kind regards, Steve.

BTW, I dug out my old Playmaker, and sitting here 10 feet from the wireless router it took almost half an hour to get it to connect to the network, and it stuttered and dropped out constantly. What a POS, and it's even too light to work as a decent door stop.

Look forward to the TIBO, and will let y'all know how it works. Finding a product that talks B&O is not easy, good find.

Thanks Jeff,

I have been using the Tibo wirelessly about 30 feet from my router (through 3 brick walls) and it has connected without any issues, no dropouts, etc.  PlayMaker was terrible for wireless coverage in many homes.

Hi Steve and thank you for that review and all your videos in general.

The way the line in works is still unclear to me. Will it :
A - Send the sound to the speakers connected to the same device (like id they were connected to the Beolab directly but with App control?
B - Send the sound over the wifi and to any speaker connected through wifi or airplay or whatever wireless technology?

The thing is the "Streamer" name for those devices is usually a little bit confusing as they rarely "stream to" speakers. They "receive from" network and send to speakers or amps wired to them.

An Airplay transmitter is something i'm looking for since a long time and doesn't look to exists in a simple manner.

Thank you.

Thanks Steve. I just ordered one. I am planning on connecting my Sony TV to the TIBO line in and then connect BL2/8002 via Powerlink. Looking to not have to use the manual on/off trigger that I have to use now to turn on the speakers. Since my TV is connected to an Apple TV 4K, I won’t use it for streaming. The total price was $114 shipped to US via Amazon UK. Many thanks for your help!

B&O in my life 😊:

  • Beolab 8002 + Beolab 2 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Office)
  • Beolab 6000 + Beolab 11 + Beosound Core with Essence Remote (Bedroom)
  • Beoplay A9 Mk2 (Living Room)
  • Beosound 1 with wireless dock (Portable)
  • Beosound Balance (Dining)
  • Beoplay H95 (Focused listening, travel)
  • Beoplay H9 (3rd gen) (retired)
  • Beoplay P6 (Portable)
  • Beotime wall clock (hallway entrance)
  • BMW X5 50i with B&O Audio Package (Commute/drive)

Hi Jaffrey,

No problem!  My main aim is to help the B&O community with good ideas, selling something is secondary! Smile I am always happy to help Beoworlders with any connection questions, even if you don't buy anything from me.

Hi Matador,

The Tibo doesn't support Airplay directly, but it can work with either Apple or Android devices in both of the ways that you suggested:-

A - Send the sound to the speakers connected to the same device (like if they were connected to the Beolab directly but with App control).
B - Send the sound over the wifi and to any speaker connected to another Tibo player through wifi (Tibo shows this option as "Play to all" in their app).

Please ask if you have any questions.

Kind regards, Steve.

Thank you Steve for that explanation.

So I understand it works to "Wifi" a turntable but only through the Tibo own network which requires replace all airplay devices by Tibo boxes.
I believe its the same as Sonos and the Sonos Connect device.

It makes sense since it was already discuss that simples Airplay streamers dont exist because of patent rules.

All the best.

At this price point, and having just gotten mine today, I doubt this thing has an A/D that will rebroadcast from the analog line in.

But, as for what it is, it's working very well. Just got it via post from Steve (very quick, many thanks!). Took almost no time to setup, I spent more time unwinding enough PL cable out of my old setup than it took to get the TIBO online. Right now have it hooked up via Blue Tooth, will have to try wife eventually, but as for now it sounds fine, and is playing without any difficulties at all. An excellent replacement for my non-functional Beolink Wireless 1.

It's hooked via PL to my BL8000's in the dining room/sun room/kitchen area, and sounds really very good. I'm very happy so far, finally have music back in here again (I was relying on my Beolit 15, which while a decent boombox is not as good as my BL8000's). When I get my BM2400 restored, this will work very well as the streaming input to it. It's small, and nondescript.

So, Steve, thanks for finding an excellent product. If it continues to work as well as it is now, I'll be very happy (I know, I'm a pessimist at heart!). Really enjoying listening to the BL8000's again.

Thanks Jeff,

Glad to hear it has arrived safely and is sounding good.  These have been very popular, so it will be a few days before I can get some more into stock.  I will then test the Line input to see if this can be broadcast over the network (apologies that I hadn't thought of checking that previously!)

Kind regards, Steve.

The danish company Oneremote.dk has been selling similar solutions for years.

A bit more expensive, but a also a bit more informative and they can be remote controlled by a B&O remote/Beo4.....

.....for those of us, who don’t want to find/open the mobile device each time you need to take action.

Thanks MM,

That is good to know, I have used OneRemote products before (Beo4 upgrade to control Apple iPod) and I was very impressed.

Just an update, I like this so well I've ordered another one to try out streaming multiroom. If it works well I can see adding more to replace my Beolink Wireless setup. It works perfectly on both BT and wifi. If the Playmaker worked this well it'd probably still be in production. This little, inexpensive box just works, no muss, no network issues, no dropouts, works from my iPhone or my PC perfectly.

I plan on trying it out with Steve's ML to miniplug adapter for the Beolab 2000's I have. That will allow me to get some use out of the BL2000's I have, not that I use them much or ever did.

Hi Jeff,

Just a quick update with an apology - the iPod (minijack) to Beolab 2000 cable mentioned previously is unfortunately no longer available.  I do still have the minijack to Beolab 3500 cables though.

Too bad Steve, but while I have two BL2000s I can't find a situation where I'd use more than one anyway. Still really enjoying the Tibo.
