The older one has a better screen / panel, and also the much more stable and elegant OS.

What he said, mk1 all the way! The newer one runs on android and is not great. All the “smart” things it offers can be overcome by an apple tv or similar on a mk1 and you’ll have a better tv.

New: Beovision Harmony, Beolab 50's, Beolab 28's, Beolab 18's, Beolab 17's, Beosound Stage & LG, Beosound 2, Beoplay M3, Beoplay A1, Beoplay Portal, Beoplay H4 gen 2, Beoplay E8 3.0

Old: Beosound 9000 mk3, Beolab 3's, Beovision Eclipse, Beolab 1's, Beolab 2, Beovision 10-46, Overture 2300, beolab 8000's, Beolab 4000's, Beovision avant 32" etc. etc.

Hello!

I have (had) them both (3rd TV after 2 Mk1 - now Mk2)

From my point of view the Mk2 has a better picture quality (although only edge lit) and come with the HEVC decorder which means that you can watch 4k without any external device;

as written above the Mk2 runs on Android which does not do a good job; many features are lost (eg Stand: different positions are possible but TV does always start up with the same position - no difference between audio or video); Netflix - if prefered - is not offered which means the remote looks better; often TV does not start up - black screen for minutes till is does a self-reset; epg is not shown properly

for me most important change: TV comes with 2 CI-slots; Mk1 is able to distinguish between them - you can use 2 different CI (2 different pay-TV broadcasters) - the Mk2 can only use the second slot for recording another scrambled program; so you can only use the slots with the same pay-TV to watch and record different programs

Buy the MK1 version plus Nvidia Shield TV (pro) or an Amazon Fire TV or Apple TV.

Are you reading this B&O?

Also one vote for the MK1

I have a BV14 40 which is android and I’ve had no big issues.

It can be seen by the app but it shows as offline and the green light comes on every morning at 4 am checking for something but who knows what lol.

Hi,

Just my thoughts in addition to the other posts.

The Avant NG has an old version of Android, Yes needs a cold boot occasionally and has its quirks. It does work quite well, has 4K over all HDMI ports (we use), handles sound processing better and links with ML reasonably well.

The Avant MK1 has a modified Beosystem 4 inside which now has its hardware problems due to the 4K modification. As does the panel, both are expensive to fix. Shame that the beosystem 4 with 4K was not continued elsewhere in the product range.

My vote is the NG for the above reasons.

Beoaus.

What 4k hardware problems does the Mk1 avant have??? I honestly have no idea what you’re saying here or why. My friend has one and works perfectly fine

Agreed - as an owner of the Avant MK1, it has no 4K problems.

Yes its not HDR, but then again neither is the MK2.

Why not go for the Eclipse 65”?

I have a Horizon 48” and a Eclipse 55” and the latter wins all. A Avant 75 cannot be compared with the Horizon (apart from the Android OS) but my guess is the Eclipse wins all from the Avant!

Android OS is not the best but has no big issues anymore, and looks modern and nice. The old generation OS is simply the best, very stable (no problems on my V1 whatsoever) but is too outdated for my taste, I would not spend big cash on it anymore. Just my opinion.

BV Harmony 65 / Eclipse 55 / BL 50 / 19 / 18 / BS 2 all brass

BV Horizon 48 / V1 40 / BL 17 / Beoplay S3 all black

V1 / BL 3 / BS Essence MKII / Beoplay A3 all white

BS Moment / BS 3000 / BS 3200 / BL 400 all silver

Headphones / bluetooth speakers / BLC NL-ML / BLGateway

I know…B&O virus has grown on me !

Don’t really get the operating system issues? Don’t we all just use SKY and ATV etc?

BV11 is never set to TV, just PS4, SKY and ATV. It has not even been connected to the aerial!

We also have a very modern LG, simply watch ATV.

Both work seamlessly with all.

Thank you all so much this was very helpful for me.

i have decided to purchase an 2015 first generation AVANT 75 with less hours on it. Putting my bv7 in the bedroom. Having a multi room system still working with master link radio, I am not sure if I will connect the master link radio system in the multi rooms or will choose for the beosound Core to use internet radio (podcast or spotify) on the Avant in the living room.

what can you recommend please, Core ore are  there better options?

have a great New Years Eve to all.

If the functions of the BS Core is what you’d need for multiroom, you could connect this to a free input on your ML audiosystem (which you obvisiously still have).

Hereafter you can listen to the sources of the Core on the ML and link the Core to the Avant (please ask, if you don’t know howto).

This solution is described in this thread:

https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/38878/295479.aspx#295479

and seems to fit your needs well.

By the way - there is Internet Radio built in to the Avant!

Hello MM

THX this is what my plan is to connect it on the ML system so I have a multiroom upstairs on my bv11

What i didnt like to have is putting the avant on and choose the source and switch it of later on when the Musik is playing. So I want a direct sound fi. When you put radio it directly plays internet radio source (whitout i have to Switch The tv off)

I suppose this is what you also mean?

You are now writing about a ‘bv11 upstairs’ - is that yet another tv, or did you mean the BV7-55, that you mentioned earlier???

Really everything you need to do is in the thread, that I linked to in the previous post!

Please describe your setup in detail - that is important for any further advice.
