Hello,

I've connected my Tv headphones output (not B&O) on Aux input BO 5 Encore. My goal is to watch concerts or movies with Beolab 8000 quality sound. Each input of BO 5 Encore works well, but then I use Aux input, there is a significant sound delay (almost 0.5s) compare to TV sound. Therefore, image and sound are not synchronized and it's really significant.

First, I thought delay was on hearphones ouput, resulting D to A transformation. I checked it with another sound system and it works well, no delay at all. TV sound and hearphones output are totally same.

After that, I thought reason was cable lenght betwen TV and BO 5 encore, so I checked with a shorter cable but result was identical. Transmission delay from 5 Encore to loudspeaker cables is non significant.

So, I deduce 5 Encore apply a delay, wich I don't understand why. Logically, analog signal must be pre-amplified without D to A conversion (instead of another inputs) so no delay must be apply. I haven't service manual with diagram to confirm that and I have no idea of how fix it.

My question : is it a BO 5 encore known problem ? In case of, is there a solution to reduce this delay ?

Thx for your help. Regards.

Hi ClaudeCAT,

Welcome to Beoworld!  Unfortunately, it is not possible to remove the delay within Beosound 5 Encore - this product is not suitable for connecting to a TV.  If your TV has a headphone socket fitted, you may be able to connect the speakers to the TV instead and link the Encore into the TV - please let me know if this is of interest and I can advise further.

Kind regards, Steve.

Hi Steve,

Thank you for your answer, and of course I'm interested by your advices. A Line input exist in Beolab 8000, more Powerlink. But if I connect my TV' headphones output directly to Lab 8000, I have to select sound entry manually by switching between Left, Right and Line. So, if I use Line input, I'll cannot easily use both sound from Beosound 5 Encore (for listening my music library or radio) and Tv sound (for concerts) as I want, until you explain me your trick to do that.

My TV own only HDMI inputs, USB input, Y/Pb/Pr + Left/Right input and Ethernet.

What do you think of using an RCA/Powerlink adaptator (for Tv headphones output) and link headphones output with Beosound 5 Encore output using an Y powerlink adapter ? If I switch on my TV, do you think sound signal is enought powerful to switch on both Beolab 8000 ? I don't know but I suppose Beosound 5 Encore send a signal on a powerlink pin to swtich on or off Beolab, so I wonder if what I say is possible without damage...

Thx for your advices,

Best regards, Claude.

Hi

It's the same problem with BS5+ BM5 !

As i did try to find some way not to be sound delay ...it is not possible or i can't find way.

I use Berhinger for AUX- USB input and i can not find any other option.

Hi marexy,

For Beomaster 5, there is a solution! Cool (although this doesn't work for the Encore):-

If you connect a TV to Beomaster 5 via the USB adapter, there will be a delay to the audio from the TV, so that it will not match the picture (this delay occurs within the Beomaster 5 and it is a known issue with B&O).  The only solution to this is to buy a Beolink Converter from Bang & Olufsen (type 1161166) and connect this to the Beomaster 5 with a Masterlink cable: https://soundsheavenly.com/21-link-systems

You can then use the headphone output into the B&O converter with this cable:-

https://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/67-298-minijack-to-aux-in-ipod-to-beosound-beomaster-beocenter-using-aux-din-socket.html#/2-length-1m

Please note that this may switch off the TV speakers and that you will need to set the TV volume quite high, typically 75% of maximum.

You can then listen to the TV through the Beomaster 5 without an audio delay by pressing “TV” on your B&O remote control.

Kind regards, Steve.

Hi,

I found this product Bosscom Powerlink switch on https://powmascables.com/contents/nl/d97_Bosscom-Powerlink-Switch.html#p98

I think it's exactly what iI want to do when I look diagram (https://powmascables.com/PDF/Powerlinkswitch/PLairplay.pdf) but it's very expensive. With an RCA/Pwlink adapter, pin 4 is not link, which is logical.

So, goal is to send 5-15v on pin 4 to activate Beolab 8000 when sound is present on pins 3 and 5. Someone has an idea ?

Hi,

I have this setup, and TV will play on every speakers connected to my Masterlink network except the ones connected to the beomaster 5 itself, 2xBL8000s via a powerlink.

When I press on the TV button (beo4) , BM shuts down and the converter acts as a Master. If I turn back on the BM5 it will play whatever is selected, but not the TV output that is still playing in the other rooms.

Thanks Steve :)

will try that ..as i have one beoilink converter extra :)

from that i can see thar only problem on delay is conversion from analog to usb.

As i have BS9000 connected to other TV with cheap 5 USD china DAC optical to analog and it no delay.
