Hello all, my membership starts (as many do) with the search for answers...

I have both a Beosystem 2500 (with Beolab 2500's) and a Beocentre 9500 (with CX50's). My problem is with the 9500.

I recently bought a AUX DIN-3.5mm cable so I could plug my tablet/phone into it and play music from there. Fairly common these days I'd think. The problem is, even with the phone volume turned right up I just can't get a decent amount of sound out of the stereo, even with the Beocentre at its maximum. It plays and I can hear it but it's just got no VOLUME to it.

It works fine on the 2500.

So, I'm wondering if there is a sensitivity level adjustment on the AUX socket? I can't find anything in the manual, on here or online in general.

Help would be greatly appreciated ☺

If it works with the 2500, then it isn't the usual wrong-pins-in-the-cable mistake.  Before looking further, I would check the obvious: make certain you plugged it into the AUX/TV socket and not TAPE2 by mistake.  Or vice versa, *intentionally* try using the TAPE2 connector and button instead?

Also worth checking that you are not using the BC9500's phono socket (nearest to the left hand edge).  The AUX input is the centre socket of the five.

Sorry for the delayed response, I posted before I went on holiday and haven't been able to check in until my return.

Thanks for the replies thus far. I am definitely using the correct socket, however I have to correct my original assessment of the problem. It DOESN'T work properly on my 2500 either, it's also feint and lacking volume too, just like the 9500.

I'm interested in the possibility of the cable being incorrectly wired, would you have the correct pinout diagram? I can only find powerlink and 5-pin diagrams.

Thank you, and Merry Christmas 🎄

Pretty likely then: I had a 4-RCA-plug -to- DIN connector cable which was used for TAPE2 In/Out.  If one plugged the external source into the Out pair rather than the In pair, exactly the same tiny-volume sound resulted.  The 9500 was *remarkably* good at amplifying the crosstalk from the wrong pins in the connector!

Wiring diagrams are here (for example, and many other places):

The problem with most DIN pin-out diagrams (including the one in the link above) is that they don't tell you if the diagram is viewed from the 'pin side' or the 'solder side'!

Given today's date, maybe treat yourself to one of these (guaranteed to work!) from our site sponsor: https://soundsheavenly.com/bang-olufsen/67-298-minijack-to-aux-in-ipod-to-beosound-beomaster-beocenter-using-aux-din-socket.html#/2-length-1m

Merry Xmas all! Big Smile

True, and not to take away from the ease of purchasing ready-made from Steve, but for future searchers and novices: Many DIN plugs & sockets have little tiny numbers embossed into the surface of the connector! It's black-on-black of course, but they are there. So you don't need to know what the pin order is, just look for the numbers and match that to your list or diagram. (It was so prevalent, was it written into the DIN spec?)

I've just ordered two of these, hopefully that will solve the problem!

Will report back once I've tried them.

Thanks for the info!

Having received and tried these new adapters, everything is working perfectly, thanks for the suggestion!

My guess is the previous eBay one is actually wired as a line-out rather than a line-in but it's going in the bin anyway!

Happy new year!
