Hi,
After getting my Beocord 8004 back from service I've had instances when pressing play causes the head to engage for a second and then release.
The technician said this was caused by the belt climbing on the pulley, possibly because there still was residue from the old belt still on the pulley or due to the belt being too tight.
Now this has happened again which raises two questions:
is opening the Becord and getting the belt back in place something for a ten thumbed simpleton as myself?
could this be an indication of a wrong belt fitted?

You don`t need to be an expert at all to take a look at your belts.
Just loosen the two screws at the backside and flip open the case. Then there are another three screws needed to be removed, carefully unplug the two connections and you can take out the drive completely.
Att he bottom there are another three screws. Unscrew em´ and voila.
Easy as a sunday morning and maximally 15 minutes of work including the reversed steps :-)

Sadly nothing about the two belts or their placement seemed peculiar or out of place so I guess I'll have to take it back to the technician. So there went my plan of making some mixtapes during the holidays.
Well...I guess we coincidentally have a similar problem. I just bought a 8002 with similar behaviour.
