I have two DVD1 players. On one, a red dot lights up when it's powered. On the other, the display remains blank (black) unless a DVD is actually playing. Is the power dot enabled through a configuration option?

If they are Mk1s (Type Number 4620) then on the Functions menu there's a 'Low Power Standby' setting (ON or OFF) - try toggling that.

Looked like a good idea, and they're both Mk1 players...

The one where the power indicator works was set to "off" whilst the one where it never comes on was set to "on". However changing the flag had no visible effect on either DVD1 front panel Sad

So thank you for the idea, but sadly it didn't solve the problem!

Solved! Guy, thank you again for your help - it allowed me to rule out the "settings" as the cause of the problem. It turned out to be a dirty connector. Once the front panel connector was unplugged and re-plugged, the standby indicator magically started working.
