Hello,

I am looking for help: the cassette/tape head is stuck in play position and will not retract back to stop position.

Is there any button combination, etc. to force the playhead to return to stop position?

I would rather find an elegant solution instead of breaking the old 1984 cassette into pieces an probably getting debris into the mechanism.

All the help is appreciated!

Cheers,
Timo

Most likely this happened because the belt is slipping (or the belt was wrong and the motor bearings now destroyed).
Rotate the flywheels in the normal playback directions until the tapehead bridge retracts.

I can supply correct belts for this tapedeck.

Hello Martin,

do you mean by the flywheel the pin and disc (number 4) in the following image: https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Cassette-deck-1-PM-motor-2-capstan-3-belt-4-flywheel-5-pressure-roller_fig9_244989418

And would the normal direction be counter-clockwise?

Yours truly,
Timo
