Hello all. Is it possible to connect any active b&o speakers to any non-b&o tv using the Beosound Core and an optical cable? And then a Beosound Essence for tv-volume control. The Beoplay Connection Hub is not an option. Thanks in advance.
Yes. This should work fine. I have this setup myself, though I use Control4 for integration. But the Core's volume works fine so the Essence Remote would be terrific.
I confirm, it works. I have a Samsung TV connected to the Core via Optical and I control the volume with an Essence remote.

What settings on your samsung tv have you used for this to work? The dealer I'm currently talking to told me that it wouldn't work for sure but I could always give it a go. The reason I'm asking is that I've got a pair of Beoplay S8 MK2's, and b&o wants to replace my Connection Hub which is faulty with a Beosound Core (free of charge). My issues is that they want me to connect the core to the tv using analog which I don't think is a very good solution (also the samsung tv I've been looking at doesn't have or support analoge (QE49Q70R). Also, how does it work with Airplay 2, Spotify connect etcetera? Does it automatically switch sources or do you have to unplug the optical cable? I've read somewhere that you have to unplug the optical if you want to use the built-in wireless streaming services. Thanks in advance :)
