Am i correct in thinking these have to be bought in a pair?

Could i not find someone else who wanted one and buy one each?

Would they both have a unique serial number?

Hello Saenie,

AFAIK Beolabs are always sold in pairs (okay, maybe not the dedicated TV-Center spaekers Smile)... at least that is waht my dealer told me.

To me it makes sense as you need to speakers to get an stereo image and Beolab12 seems to a dedicated front/stereo speaker like for example Beolab8000. As for serial number: I think that every speaker will have it's own serial number as it is today.

Only out of intrest: What do you want to do with only one Beolab12?

Cheers!

Well, as I am in the same boat as you (right now my bank account wouldn't allow such investment, even one at the time Sad )....

Well perhaps set up a savings account for your B&O products instead. Who knows? B&O is mostly likely going to roll out a range of new loudspeakers to replace the whole old lab range. You might regret buying your single Beolab 12 when something more suited for your needs get released. Then you will have buyer's remorse.

Why on earth would you make such a ridiculous comment? The BeoLab 12's have only just been launched - on what authority do you believe they will be replaced soon?

Of course they will be replaced at some point - maybe three years, maybe five, maybe fifteen - but to tell someone they may regret buying a speaker that is the newest in the whole range to me seems outrageous.

You truly make some dumb statements?

I am not saying that the Beolab 12 is going to be replaced soon. I mean newer options might emerge perhaps options that are going to replace the old range  and maybe then he can make a better purchase decision. Are you high? And besides isn't it better to put aside money just in case than spending it on a SINGLE speaker that is not going to do him much good anyway.

depending on the market, at least some years ago beolab speakers were sold one by one in denmark, for a moment I thought they were half price compared to sweden

Yes the Beolab 12s can definitely be bought singularly but just set up a savings account for your B&O.

Really you never know when newer loudspeakers will pop up in the future that might be more suited to you needs and preferences. Times are really tough for B&O and you can see them pulling all the stops.... I think the best might be yet to come.

In all honesty, you should only buy a single speaker if you only need a single speaker. Especially since the BL12s are relative new, and as such might get revisioned silently a little. It would be a bummer to find out that speaker number two doesn't sound exactly the same as speaker number one.

You can buy them single, well here in Denmark it is possible, but they are packed as pairs so i don't know if a dealer actually would sell it that way Wink
