I have a Beolab 3500 speaker.

I wanted to connect it to my television (Beovision 6) but it either can't connect or it doesn't output any sound. Couldn't find any working solution in the manual and don't have a clue what is going wrong. Does anyone ever had the same problem or has a suggestion how to fix this? Btw I have got the matching remote! Thanks for your time :)

How are you trying to connect it?  It's designed to be used in a separate room and as far as I know, your only option is a masterlink cable - is this what you have tried?

OK.  The BL3500 is deisgned to be used and controlled separately to the TV (hence separate room).

You need to make sure that the Beolab is in the correct option (L.OPT) setting.  What remote do you have?

Turn the system to standby/off.

On the Beo4, press the POWER button and LIST together.  Then press LIST until OPTION is shown, press GO (centre button), and then press LIST to show L.OPT.  Then press 1.  The power light on the BL3500 may blink to show that it has been accepted.

Then try to control the BL3500 with either remote.

Or with the BL1000 I think you can simply press LINK 1 STORE Smile

Actually (having just checked the manual) I think you want to put the BL in L.OPT 5, so substitute the digit 5 for 1 in the above advice!!!

i.e: With BL1000 press LINK 5 STORE

It should simply work with the same command as when you are controlling the TV.

If L.OPT 5 does not work, try L.OPT 4 or L.OPT 6 (the latter is the default setting)

Is the Beolab in a separate room?

Same room but blocked the tv from beo4 signals, Tried the l.opt 1-6 and can't seem any diference between them. When i aim at the beolab 3500, the tv will adjust acordingly but still no sound from the Beolab 3500.

I assume it makes no difference when connecting my laptop through an aux/rca cable with the tv and DVI for video. Sound is playing through the aux cable to the tv!

Try pressing AV before the selection.

i.e AV then PC, or AV then TV.

On the Beo4, you can add AV, or even AV-PC to the LIST menu. (EDIT: You can add A-PC, which is the same as pressing AV then PC)

Good news!

So for the benefit of others, what are the working OPT settings for the TV and Beolab?

well i'm not really sure but when i changed the OPT.V setting to 1 on my TV, nothing worked and when i changed it to 2, it WORKS.

I don't know the OPT setting on the BEOLAB 3500, but i think it's 5 or 6.

But maybe more important: When connecting a PC to the TV, the sound ouput is only through the TV speakers, When using scart, the audio IS outputted through the Beolab 3500.

I'm not sure if the OPT settings make any difference, because i didn't try SCART before.

^ That's interesting - when searching the forum I did find someone who said that the PC audio should be transmitted over masterlink in the same way as other signals.

Did you try the method of pressing AV first, i.e AV then PC?

It was the last post in this thread that mentioned PC over masterlink: https://archivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/p/15401/132781.aspx#132781

Perhaps your BL3500 is too old to understand the PC command?

Out of curiosity, what is the benefit of connecting a BL3500 to a Beovision 6 ?

My BeoLab 3500 was working ok until I disconnected it (to decorate) and then reconnected it.  Now there is no sound or response from the hand controller.  It is cabled by ML and both ends have a good connection.  Any suggestions ----- please !!!!
