Hi there,

as it can be read in another thread bl4000 and bl6002 are getting phased out. As I plan to mount my existing 4000s on floor stands in the near future I headed over to german dealer Karpa & Müller to look for the current price. By chance I stumbled upon this:

http://www.cb-leipzig.de/Produkte/Bang_Olufsen/Lautsprecher/BL14/bl14.html

The rumours about a Bose-like actice subwoofer / passive satellite system seem to be true. The text says it's a 4.1 system together with a b&o tv and a 5.1 system together with an av reciever of a third party manufacturer.

Interesting thanks. I ditched my 8000/6000/2 combo for a more subtle 10-46 and Beolab 2 setup, but to be frank really miss the experience. This tick both boxes. I think Paul W will appreciate the colour range.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Nice. I could be interested in this. They will hopefully tell us more at CES in a couple of weeks.

Wonder which pricepoint they're targeting.

I'm not sure though why it is only 4.1 with a B&O TV - would that mean that the TV is the centre channel? But if that is the case, where does the 5th speaker go if it's 5.1 with a non-B&O TV?

Think so. Together with a b&o tv the tv is the center. Together with a third party tv maybe a fifth satellite works as a center.

Thanks beoberlin,

great link. It looks exactly as my dealer described it to me a couple of weeks ago. The amps for the satellite speakers are supposed to be located within the sub housing.

Three weeks ago he told me that the speaker system pricewise will be underneath the price of the Beolab 2.

I'm interested in this speaker system (although I would prefer it as "Beolab 13"), if the sound is good for me.

Kind regards,

Rolf

BnO definetely out of ideas, Beoplay v1 looks like the Loewe , the new speakers like

and the woofer looks like a white plastic trash bin Ick! ,its hilarious to sacrifice bl4000 & co for these candy speakers.

They will be of course half expensive in production but will be sold at the same price.

Maybe the new 5.1 system will use the soon-to-be-announced new IcePower platform for surround sound:

Which could be interpreted as confirmation that the picture is real.

Maybe the picture was taken down after a call from Struer/ or Pullach?

I had no requests to take the image down...  nor did any of the other mods.

I'd imagine the 4.1 setup, with your own TV as Center would be... errr.. around £2,500 - whilst the 5.1 for non B&O TV's would be around £3,000.

However, that's just a wild guess.

I have saved the two images on my iPad as posted on the website.

Is it allowed to post them here? If so, I will do it when I get home.

Anyone interested in these pictures? Or is the link in this forum from beoberlin enough?

Do as you wish.  As mentioned, nobody seems to have been bothered by the 'leak' in Struer ...

I'm torn between thinking the concept is a good idea, and that it smacks of Bose - but making a profit is the main aim of any company, so if it makes a profit and gets extra sales, then it has to be a good thing from the bean counters perspective.

Lee, I must point out that the BOSE speaker speaker was and I believe still is an INCREDIBLY excellent performing system for around £600 + amp.  We've used these speakers at many of our radio stations and my gosh, they are bullet proof with exceptionally clear sound and excellent bass.  They knocked spots off the BL6000 when compared A/B at the time at a third of the price.

Bose schmose - the main point is that if the picture is accurate then its a dreadful design - something you'd expect from ebuyer for 300 quid! If it really looks like this then it needs to be a real performer!!!

You guys... Stick out tongue
How could one even dare judging these speakers without having seen them in person.

I remember back when pictures of BeoLab 12 leaked and everybody was saying that they looked crappy until one guy saw them in person and told on the forums how gorgeous they looked. Now almost everybody is positive about them.

History repeating itself... and we even don't know if these pictures are legit

Anyone knows what is Dual loop 3? I think B&O needs to tighten up their act with Icepower because with Hypex Ncore technology out and Direct Digital Amplifiers with distortion levels that equals high end DACs. I think Icepower might be losing its reign as one of the best digital amplification solutions out there. Most companies that started out using Icepower as their choice of amplification modules have moved on to develop their own. I think B&O has been a little complacent with its achievements made with Icepower. Icepower can be a huge huge source of revenue and will add value to the core brand if done well. Come on B&O I am sure you can outperform Hypex or Nad easily in this field! Direct digital amplification for all your loudspeakers will be amazing! Just create a super stylish and user friendly broadcast server and there you go wireless super high performing sound system.

Maybe create another sub brand which will consist of high concept sound systems? Full dirac room correction, wireless full DSP  direct digitally amplified loudspeaker line. And you have the whole high end market under your fingers! With room correction, direct digital amplification and DSP corrected loudspeakers you will have super class sounding loudspeakers on the cheap! And you will be able to totally dominate the pro market as well. Being  24bit/196khz compatible wireless will just propel you to an entirely different level!

Maybe it is the expansive sound that you are attracted to.

There is actually a serious flaw in the ALT lense technology. Not in terms of technical aspects but more particularly on a execution. All recordings are not mastered on speakers with flat off axis high frequency response so actually the beolab ALT range of speakers will sound bright in room. If only ALT is corrected to only disperse sound on the 90 to 120 degrees angle that most loudspeakers out there intend to achieve. I don't think that will be too hard a thing to accomplish.
