I have seen a couple of postings with questions in regards to the BV11.
As the B&O manual by far doesn't cover everything, here's a thread to cover questions - and I start with my own first:
When I mount a USB stick formatted as FAT I can see the files just fine and play them, too. But as FAT there is no way to play huge movie files (e.g. Bluray files) - so I tried NTFS...
But as NTFS the Homemedia entry in the TV menu shows "No Name" for the USB stick and 'empty' ... no files are being shown.
Has anybody else found this or even a solution to this?
Try to format the USB stick as FAT32, not FAT...
Sorry, I meant FAT32 - but that does not handy files larger than 4GB, thats my problem
I believe most NAS's use EXT3 format and they can handle large files and talk to DNLA devices such as BV11. Try it out. And let us know if it does the job.
sorry, cannot format a USB stick as EXT3 on my mac - but thanks for the suggestion
Has any BV11 owner tried the Homemedia via USB?
In terms of cooling fans: I have not heard any fan a single time so far ... and I did use the set quite intensively over the last days

when I first saw that reply I checked on the EXT extension - it is Linux based
but there is an extension called FUSE that you can install on OSX to get you that capability

About fan noise. I hope that no one have discovered any, as there are no fans inside a BV11
The only noise that someone might hear is coming from the HDD.
Just to clarify:
NAS = Network attached storage
-> Basically a large harddisk that can be accessed via the network
CAN include a MEDIA SERVER that MIGHT BE based on DNLA
-> a programm running on a PC or NAS that offers files to other systems (TVs etc.)
A USB stick (or external USB disk) should always be formatted NFTS (windows user, sorry) to support large fils(sure not if USB stick is 4 GB or less).NFTS is not recognized by all TV, though.
SO, I'd follow the advice and use a hidden box that communicates with a NAS (NOT a media server though, due to performance issues, tagging of files).
I use a Western Digital Live TV HD that accesses my files on a Synology NAS (had a Buffalo Terastation NAS as well, that was good, too). The WD Live has a USB port, too...
Best regardsRalf

w5bno123:We plugged a clients external USB drive in to his BVIS 11 and drive name was recognised as he had named it and it played the AVI files. I have a Mac mini in the showroom and the movie files stored on the Max play through Plex media server using the Homemedia source. Why aren't you using Apple TV to draw the video content via the mac, this is seamless and it has a better interface?
Nice setup with the mac mini. Does it work fine using the mac mini with plex via the Homemedia source?
Here's a satellite module question that my dealer is also looking into.
My BV11 has a hard disk and satellite module. There are two lnb inputs marked sat1 and sat2.
Within the set up menu you select your satellite(s). I have Astra 1 and Astra 2 selected. However, on tuning it is evident that only the sat1 connection is being picked up. If I connect the Astra 1 dish to sat1 input I get all the German channels and no UK, and vice versa if I connect Astra2 to sat 1 and Astra1 to sat 2.
The TV searches both Astra 1&2 when retuning, but I suspect it is looking for both dishes on the sat1 connection and is ignoring sat2.
I can't find anything in the on screen menus about needing to somehow activate sat 2 separately. The manual just refers to sat1/2 as if the tv should automatically take the signal from both sat inputs.
Any ideas anyone?

To partly answer my own question, a single paragraph tucked away in the user manual says that using the hard disk module requires a satellite connection with a double lnb head, and more than one dish also needs a DiSEqC switch, ......... and to contact your dealer for details. So maybe sat2 is just the connection for the lnb to recorder input. I'll await my dealer input.

The performance when streaming 16GB MKV files through the Apple TV from the mac is really sluggish. I could only go through Airplay Screen Sync and this will not word for 3d video files anyway. While playing music is just fine through the Apple TV, HD 3D video won't work. Officially, B&O say that NTFS should be supported on USB - but my BV11-55 only recognizes FAT32 (which as stated above won't handle files larger than 4GB)
Has anyone succeeded in mounting an NTFS USB Stick?

B&O have confirmed that the two lnb inputs are for a dual lnb with the sat2 connection being for recording. More than one lnb/ dish can be set-up with DisEqc.
The module appears to have just about every broadcasting satellite already loaded. You just need to switch on the ones your dish is able to point at in the set-up menu.
I haven't finished experimenting with the menus, but it looks as if you can create favourite groups that consist of a mixture of terrestrial and satellite (& cable?) channels. Without using this approach the normal Beo4 operation seems to be to switch on the TV with the TV button which will activate the last source you used (Freeview or satellite etc) and you then need to switch sources within the menus by going to channel groups.

This Bv just gets more interesting. !
