Hi folks --
I'm hoping someone here can help point me in the right direction with an ongoing hum issue with my 8002.
It's been a long road trying to solve this since I obtained my beautiful 8002 about three months back. First, I bought a dodgy cable from the US, before realising I should have gone to Steve at SoundsHeavenly in the first place. I live in Sydney, Australia, so each step takes weeks ...
Anyway, everything is now hooked up properly ... TT is grounded to pre-amp, pre-amp grounded to amp [Onkyo 602]. I'm getting a beautiful sound, except there's still a low but noticable hum. I'm not technical at all, I've tried using different power mains etc with no change.
Weird thing is ... if I diconnect the ground wire to the pre-amp, the hum disappears, but when the stylus hits the vinyl, I get a high level on white noise ...
Am I missing a simple step, or do I need to get the turntable serviced by someone who knows what they're doing (which, again, will be a bit of an ask here in Sydney).
Any thoughts or suggestions will be hugely appreciated ...
Cheers and seasons greetings to all from Down Under.
