My 9000 has an 8-pin connector coming out to an  8-pin connection to the B&O amp. Is there a cable that goes from the 8-pin out to RCA in to an amp?  Is there a way to do it? Thanks.

Suggest you consult steve@soundsheavenly.co.uk who will either have a cable in stock or will make you one.

He advertises at the bottom of this page.

You need the cable/adapter from Sounds Heavenly, and maybe a plug to trick the 9000 into thinking it has a Powerlink speaker attached. Steve should be able to help with both.

PI ran my 9000 into an old McIntosh MC240 tube amp and NHT speakers when I first got it, worked great. Looked odd, the ultra modern B&O hooked to a 1960's tube amp, definitely cool though.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus. Sad

Hi Graham and Jeff,

Thanks for the recommendation!  Beosound 9000 behaves strangely when used without B&O speakers connected (ie. when connected to an external power amplifier and passive speakers), as it refuses to respond to the remote control.

Hence I always add a free Powerlink Blanking Plug when a customer requests a Powerlink to Amplifier cable for use with a Beosound 9000 - this fits into the spare Powerlink socket to trick the 9000 into thinking that it still has Beolab speakers connected.  The result is that the 9000 will then respond to remote control commands as normal.

I used to have a 9000 connected to a Quad 303 power amp and a pair of Royd Minstrel passive speakers using this arrangement, which gave a lovely sound.  I personally feel that a hifi power amplifier and passive speakers can really sound good with a modern Beosound unit, giving all the practicality of a B&O system but with complete freedom to tailor the choice of speakers to your room.

Kind regards, Steve.

Steve.
