Hello all,
I own a B&O Beosystem 2500 (aka Beosound Overture) and one of the 4 ambient lights surrounding the CD and tape player is burned out. I verified this by taking it apart and indeed the filment is detached. Does anyone know what kind of light bulb I need and/or who may sell them for the system? I assume I can learn how to unsolder the light bulb and reattach a new one.
Any assistance would greatly be appreciated. My system is 20+ years old and I'm graceful that something so minor has happened but it really deters from the attractiveness of the system.

Good Luck finding out, I never did. In the end I bought the spare part from B&O. They are sold mounted on the little pcb and are a HORRENDOUS !!price

Well, last year after Xmas has ended I bought several Xmas decoration lights quite cheap and maybe I can use these lightbulbs instead of those overpriced prices B&O is asking! Let's see how that works out!

It's just a little PCB with 2 tracks on it to keep the lightbulb in place. Nothing special, however I would advise you to keep the tiny PCB and replace it with an alternative lightbulb.
OK, thank you for advise. But how to get to the bulb inside Ouverture? It seems to be covered by some components. Especially the bulbs dedicated to light up the tape are hardly accessible in my opinion...
I will post a pictured guideline on your thread how to do that as soon as I found the alternative lightbulbs. Probably this weekend! Cheers...

Thank goodness I'm not the only one struggling with this problem. I called a B&O repair center and they didn't have the part nor could they provide a part number. To verify that the bulb is out, I followed this youtube video minus the laser removal.

Leslie, I would very much be appreciative if you can determine an alternative bulb to use and how to properly remove and reattach a new bulb. B&O certainly doesn't make it easily repairable.

I saw and forgot that video! Pretty good, I like those kind of instructions, saves you lots of bla bla..
The first part shows you how to remove the frontplate in order to get easy acces to the lightbulbs.
I hope I can find a cheap alternative for the bulbs and will post my findings!

I found it!!!
I called a B&O repair shop near Atlanta GA and the great guys there hooked me up! For a light bulb it's a bit pricy but there aren't many choices $12.33 + $2 shipping. This is the light bulb + circuit board so I must unsolder and resolder 2 wires but it seems quite easy.

I just got off the phone with Benny Amina @ Modular Electronics. He said a 12V / 70mA bulb would do the trick, which I found here. 'Gonna give it a try on my Beosound and will report back. Benny also said that all the bulbs should be replaced so that the brightness matches.

That's correct and quite easy to replace.
BO:That looks like a LED lamp. I think you need a filament lamp.
? I see no indication that it's LED.

The bulb can be replaced and you can still use the excisting small pcb by desoldering the defect light bulb. Some things looks complicated but it isn't. Don't buy them at the dealer, cost you for such a simple part a fortune.
That's what Benny Amina said. But from the looks of the previous posts on this thread, people have been buying the pcb+bulb.
You can't buy them seperately, it's one partnumber.
Did you managed how to replace them on your 3200?

I know - that's what I meant. Gonna do my 3200 as soon as I receive the bulbs and buy a soldering iron/solder. Which end is the hot one?
Try the metal end and you will find out. By some plasters as well...
I just watched half a dozen soldering tutorials on youtube and not one of them mentioned 'plasters'. What are they? Would installatioin be easier if I bought the pcb part?

You still need to solder even with the complete pcb.

don't know if this is of use as information, got them in a bag of spares i bought from ebay
might be the right part to replace just the bulbs, might not.
I think it should be a 5V lightbulb. If you need I can give you one.

I've been looking everywhere online to find some info about light bulb replacement for an 'old' BS 2500 from '91 of a friend of mine. There was a suggestion to use a 12 V 70 mA bulb. Well, I today used four 12 V 80 mA bulbs, but the light is too soft. Although I replaced all the four of them to have matching colours, they are just not bright enough.
Replacement -by the way, for those who are into soldering- really is a peace of cake once you manage to open up the two black plastic front covers.
Guide: Unplug power in window open position. Remove the windows, remove the left and right plastic black front covers on the side (you actually do not need to remove the back cover, I found out), remove the 8 screws on the left and right of the front grey element that holds the cd-clamp and buttons, and there you go: full access to those four tiny prints with the bulb on the back. Bend the metal carefully to release the prints, and there you go...
Even though the light of the 12 V bulbs is not that bright as the original bulb (I think the original will be a 5 V bulb, I guess, which will shine brighter), my friend who's BS2500 light broke down is satisfied with the less bright result. Therefore I won't try another 'brighter' bulb. If in a few years my own BS3000's lights will break down, I'll give it a new try :p

Hi Alls,
Today, I replaced one of the two bulbs in my recent Beosound 2300.
I used a 5v 60mA bulb (1,75€ in Paris) and didn't even needed to change the other one: same brightness and same color open or closed, even though the bulb is slightly smaller.

Nice and easy soldering job, just solder off the old globes from the little PCB, then solder these new ones in.
