After 3 years of no problems viewing Region 4 discs, the DVD is now posting an error message- "Incompatible region number- cannot play disc"

I tried playing some Region 2 and they worked fine.

Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem ? and what can I do about it .

Thanks

Noel

Just wondering if there might be some master code that will programme the Beovision to Region 4 ?

Regards

Noel.

Maybe have a look in the service menu, but I think you can only view the region code there.

Press 0 0 GO to enter service mode, and then look for DVD Service Menu.  Be careful if you change any settings.

Service menu options are in the service manual, which you should be able to download as a Gold Member.

As a last resort, you could try a RESET to DEFAULT of the whole TV.

Got into the DVD service menu as suggested ,and it confirmed the Region Code should be 4 (for Australia and New Zealand).

The unit is only programmed for Region 2.

I couldn't find a service manual for my type ( 9351) and serial number ( 18928695). I think I must have a Mark 1 version.

Evidently, the region code can be changed using the service tool?

Guy ( or anyone),

How can I re-set the TV  to default factory settings ? ( Can't find any reference in User Guide,Reference Book, and Service Manuals.)

regards

Noel.

Hi again,

When you go into the TV's Service Menu, and then 'Monitor Service Menu', isn't 'Reset to Default' one of the options?

I am only getting this from the Mk2 manual, so perhaps the service menu is different in the Mk1.  If you do the reset, make sure that you know how to return to your original settings for eg Connections and Stand.

In most Beovision manuals it does state that the 'Service Tool' (i.e dealer equipment) is required to change the DVD Region Code, so if a reset does not work there is nothing else that I can suggest.

Thanks once again Guy.

I don't think I'll risk a reset at this stage-will ring the service centre on Monday to see if they have a service tool.

Regards

Noel.
