An internal switch? I would be very surprised... No other B&O product has 2x ethernet for networking.

No other product had Powerlink connections before the first one to have them! Big Smile
And it will be very poor design to have another RJ45 not for ethernet just next to one which is.

Ever owned an Essence (mk1 or mk2)? Ethernet, powerlink and infrared. All the same RJ-45 sockets sitting next to each other..

No, that is jst a matter of simplification.

RJ45 is just a connector type - which can be used for different purposes.

C'mon Millemissen you're not believable here ;-)

The why use RCA for line In Figure of 8 for power. Just align a bunch of RJ45 everywhere and it will be more simple…
…Given you have a good lenses for close sight! and all circuits are well protectedBig Smile

Yes, I absolutely agreee! Big Smile

Millemissen:

I didnt object the fact, i just say it is poor design because same connector for two close sockets with different purpose on the back of a device which is intend to be concealed is not a very convenient choice.

But to be fair (now i know you appreciate) I dont ever heard of someone burning an essence (no pun intend) by mistaking RJ45.Stick out tongue

I still bet on two ethernet, because it makes sense. lets wait for the facts now.

Imagine you have an ethernet wall socket. But it is used by a printer/computer/… You would like to install the speaker nearby, wired to LAN but you don't want to disconnect the other device nor use an ugly switch which also need power. Then you connect BS to wall and computer/Printer/… to the second RJ45 on the BS..

Not a very likely scenario for a free standing speaker.

(A small switch at the wall socket would be a better idea).

However, the ports are there - and are supposed to be used for something wired.

Just what???

Could it be to connect a second Balance, like master slave to get a stereo set?

Is there a release date?

If a few are already displayed in stores, it may be quick.

I saw teasers on Instagram.

Skiniplay already has a BeoSound Balance-section (not filled yet), so there'll be some custom covers fairly quickly too.

Quite funny my local store has already two on display since last week. I guess one of the worst product launches of B&O ever...not even on the website.

Had a quick look at them, not sure if this is the product that is desperately needed to help to grow the business to a healthy level.

I am sorry to say, but my first reaction was to compare with the IKEA Sonos lamp.... for sure, build quality is from a different planet. Price point as well.

The Official launch seems to tomorrow.

Talked with a dealer this weekend in Hamburg,

He have not received a unit yet, and have not got any E8 3.0

Corona Virus was the official blame, China is closed.

Anyways very bad that dealers are already showing them in stores,

Worse if some dealers dont even have the product at launch.

Beovision Harmony 77" 2nd Gen, Beolab 5, Beolab 17, Beosound 1, Beoplay M3, Beoplay Portal, Beoplay Earset, Beoliving Intelligence

I am very much looking forward to gaining more knowledge about the product’s intended place in the lineup!

The naming structure with nouns such as Edge, Shape, Stage and Balance doesn’t quite divulge the intended usage.

Maybe knowing the name for the next iteration of Beoplay A1 is Beosound A1 will help. Or not! Big Smile.

Or to be used as surroundspeaker? I know some dealers who wanted the BS2 as rears. Like with powerlink, connect to the first and go on to the second one .

Very very disappointing!

No B&O multiroom capability’s, only Apple Airplay2 and Chromecast, how is this possible?

Is the company so much at drift that they are abandoning their own multiroom solution. I want to join and use products with my remote, not my phone!

Apart from the strange design I feel B&O is getting a fashion / furniture company which produce loud products. Not form but Marketing over function. Even the technical product sheet contains various marketing statements to be copied by lazy journalists... pfff I need a coffee and let this disappointment sink in.

For now: shame on you B&O, get your act (and management) together!

BV Harmony 65 / Eclipse 55 / BL 50 / 19 / 18 / BS 2 all brass

BV Horizon 48 / V1 40 / BL 17 / Beoplay S3 all black

V1 / BL 3 / BS Essence MKII / Beoplay A3 all white

BS Moment / BS 3000 / BS 3200 / BL 400 all silver

Headphones / bluetooth speakers / BLC NL-ML / BLGateway

I know…B&O virus has grown on me !

Copy from the product sheet:

"Multiroom

Apple AirPlay 2 and Chromecast Multiroom technologies are integrated and ready for you to create a wireless home speaker system with Beosound Balance"

So I don't think it has B&O Multiroom..Surprise

No B&O multiroom confirmed, two Ethernet ... for what?

After dropping Gracenote, no Deezer, no TuneIn, no Spotify .... less fees. What will future updates of current products drop ?

Not for me.

From a sound/technical perspective I'm very much looking forward to hear this one. The abilities seem stunning!

But I find this confusing: "Pair two Beosound Balance to enjoy a stereo listening experience. Set up the stereo pairing through the Google Home App." So there's no stereo pairing if you're on Airplay or Bluetooth? Why can't you set it up in the BeoApp?

That has been the case for a long, long time. I think even David Lewis wasn't on the Beopayroll at the end of his career.

But B&O works with high class designers anyway (Cecilie Manz, Norm Architects, Anders Hermansen...)
