Hi all,
I recently purchased a Beocenter 6-26 with DVI and surround sound module. I do not need it but the design is great so I wanted to own it, perhaps just for a little while.
I notice when switching to e.g. DTV or CAMERA as source there is a buzz noice from the built-in speakers. If I press TV there is less buzz noticeable. I have not connected the TV cable, as I am running my computer via the DVI cable.
UPDATE: after the BC has been switched off and disconnected from the mains for a day the buzz is less prominent.
Important to note is that the buzz noise is not affected by volume change, and it appears in all four speakers. I suspected that the power cable or grounding has something to do with it? But why it does not appear when TV is selected surprises me.
I have seen on the forum some issues with noise in beovisions (avant / 11) but those were somehow related to the picture on the screen or to the volume control.
Any thoughts are welcome. Thank you in advance.
Beosound 5 Encore + Beosystem 5500 + S45.2; BV7-40 MKV + BL7.1 + BL14.4+ AppleTV4; various link rooms with MCL2 A or MCL2 A/V + RL60.2 / CX100 / CX50 & Cona / IWS2000; BG4000; Beosystem 1200 + BV1600.
Anyone? I actually also notice this buzz from the speakers of my BV7-32. Do I have more sensitive ears? I know there are a LOT of BV7 and BC6 owners out there, so if there is any thought of this matter please let me know. I will sell the BC6 because of the buzz, because playing music or a video source on low volumes is not comfortable with the buzz in the background.
FYI I use MCL throughout the house with a BM5500 and spotify as source, so I am not an audiophile, just enjoy some music.
Thanks
I don't have a BC6-26, but I do have a BV6-26 and a BC6-23 - neither has the surround module.
I just checked both with various inputs and did not detect any buzzing. There's just a gentle hiss with most inputs, as expected, and this varies with volume; it's certainly not noticeable in use. On the 6-26 I can also hear the fan if I listen closely, but again not noticeable when in use, even on low volumes.
One thing that you could try (I have done this on my 6-26): Given that you don't use the TV tuner, go into the Service Menu*, then go to TV-TUNER and turn OFF all the TUNER SYSTEM options.
(* Go to a SETUP menu and press 0 0 GO within three seconds)
Another thing you could try (I think you can do this in the Netherlands) - reverse the polarity of the mains plug - i.e plug it in the other way up, if possible.
Perhaps it is your cable ? Try music / DVD player with different cable, I had that when I tried music from iPhone via camera connections , problem sorted with good quality cable/ adaptor .
Thanks for the replies!

That did not change anything. However, I found something strange: if from standby I select TV, then the noise is there. If I first select V.Aux (noise), and THEN TV, there is no noise. I do not have a cable in the TV as I use it for XBOX only, via V.aux.

Interesting. But after trying that there is no difference in the buzz.
As transformers get older they can be prone to buzzing due to the metal plates loosening. There could also be some resonance with one of the panels at the rear or inside. Perhaps you could open it up and tighten any obvious fastenings - other that that I don't know what to suggest.
Deleted - repeat post!

Thanks for your suggestion Guy, I fear is has to do with some internal signal noise, because it occurs with some sources and not with some other. And also it occurs with with sources that are connected but also with sources that are not at all connected. So in my case the CAMERA input inputs are empty, but still produce the same noice as the A.Aux which is connected to the XBOX.
I thought that perhaps the 5.1 modules is somehow connected the wrong way, but I'd rather not open it up.
Anyway, if I am the only victim I will consider my options, but I will probably look for a different version at some point and sell this one in the mean time.
Thanks all for the suggestions!
