I was looking at the Beo 4 page on the B and O site. Under specifications it mentions the 455khz frequency that B and O uses. It then mentions that the Beo 4 also emits 20-80khz for use with non B and O non AV products. I assume this is for curtains etc and user guide seems to mention CONTROL as the method to access this. Is there any  further info anywhere on what these frequencies can be used for?

As far as I know Beo4 does not control 3rd party products. This only true for Beo5/6. The control command is a standard B&O command, which can be used in home integration systems. I use it togehter with my Lintronic box to control some equipment.

That is what I thought, which is why I was surprised that the specifications on the B and O web page include mention of the 20-80khz for third party products.

Also, the user guide refers to CONTROL as being used to control non B and O products, such as curtains.

Gentlemen,

The B&O documentation is a little misleading in this area, whilst factually correct, it fails to state the whole story, so I will try and add a little bit more detail.

To start with some facts about "Carrier Frequency" and command "Control"

  • There is a CONTROL command and it has a HEX code of 9C
  • The Beo4 only transmits using a Carrier Frequency of 455 Khz
  • On a Beo5 & Beo6 the CONTROL command is also transmitted as a standard B&O IR command using carrier frequency 455 Khz
  • Using an associated XML control file, the Beo5/6 can control 3rd party products with carrier frequencies in the range of 20 to 80 Khz
  • The CONTROL Command uses different addresses to standard commands. HEX 1B for light commands and HEX 1C for window/curtain type commands.

Fundimentally these are controls for third party products connected to a MasterLink Gateway

Regards Keith....

You mention that the the Beo 5/6 has carrier frequencies of 20-80khz, and that the Beo 4 only uses 455khz.

I always understood that the Beo 4 was only 455khz.

But then why do the B an O web page specifications for the Beo 4 specifically say:

"IR Frequencies 455khz for Bang and Olufsen products and 20-80khz for third  party non-AV control"?

Razlaw:
IR Frequencies 455khz for Bang and Olufsen products and 20-80khz for third  party non-AV control"?

In my view it should add the statement at the end "via the MasterLink Gateway..

As I said the Beo4 ONLY uses a carrier Frequency of 455 Khz

Thanks!

So the buttons on the Beo 4 for WINDOW 2-5, CRTAIN 2-5, and ON-OFF 2-5 are for use with Masterlink Gateway?

Yes, MLGW mainly works with commands in LIGHT and COMMAND mode.

You can also use Beo4 LIGHT commands "MORNING, TV, RELAX,..." for the MLGW.

Lintronics box TT455-RT238 also supports these commands.
