Hi

Just thought I would share my experience of SONY against B&O with you guys - all of my stuff is B&O, but last year (2011) I bought a SONY dvd player, specifically to be able to watch LoveFilm, BBCiPlayer and Netflix. At the time Netflix wasn't available but now is - guess what, only on the same player made in 2012! massively poor product support and updates. A friend lent me a PS3, constant problems with logging out of the network, connecting etc. etc Works great some of the time and intermittently the rest unless left switched off for a few hours. Searched the internet and seems loads of people have the same problems. By the way the dvd player used the same ethernet cable without any problems and it is connected to BT Infinity so I doubt it's my internet connection or router.

At least with B&O they make every effort to make things backwardly compatible and it just works - no messing around with routers and god knows what - and a remote that is simple and easy to use. Tempted now to replace my Avant with a new Smart B&O TV as I have little confidence in the other manufacturers. Might be just me but the Sony experience has been a nightmare and if anything made more brand loyal to B&O. Yes the cost is high, but the amount of time spent messing around trying to get other things to work more than makes up for the cost.

Great post an thank you for posting it. It is refreshing to see somebody post good things about Bang and Olufsen here as most threads in this forum consist of nothing but certain individuals saying nothing but bad things about B and O.

If you buy a B&O product that doesn't work etc, this then the obvious place to ask advice and vent frustrations. My 10-46 is very good, but I expect it to be.

My Beolit 12 was terrible at maintaining a wireless signal. My 3 Sony PS3's have never lost connection!

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

More often than not, network connection issues with newer products, including B&O, have more to do with getting up to obtain the latest router technology.  I did this, and replaced my 2 year old Net gear with a R6300.

EVERYTHING WORKS AND STAYS CONNECTED!

Try it. You'll like it!

Routers will last longer than two years but you would be surprised how often I come across 8/10 year old ones that never had a day off... and people wonder why they have gone so slowwwwwwwwwwwww.

You can buy better routers than the the telephone companies supply.

It could possibly be the router, some internet posts are saying to turn n off and leave it ib BG mode - it seems to have settled down now on wireless as I physcicaly power it off at night - it doesn;t seem to want a wired connection at all. Which I would have thought rules out the router? I'm tending to think I just have a faulty network card inside the PS3 - anyway at least its working now.

But looking at the posts about PS3 problems there seem to be hundrerd all over the place, whereas this is the only place I can find problems with B&O - and not nearly as many as others have with other manufacturers
