Beosound 4 Sticky

My Beosound 4 has started zu turn sticky. Does anyone know if there are still replacements for the body out there? Is the body actually made out of metal? If it is made out of metal, I would try to remove the stickiness und respray the body.

Hi from memory it’s a type of hard plastic, and both of my Beolab 9 speakers as well as my Beosound 4 developed the same problem. What we did is get some Eucalyptus Oil, and started to rub a small section at a time.... took time but eventually the whole black stick was is gone and just like new again. :) 

Contact your local dealer and they will be able to order the spare parts and fit them professionally for you. We have done this several times for clients.

what i did is..

strip down complete BS4..spary it with car primer ..sand it with 1000 sand paper ..than spray it with black matt car spray paint..

no more problems  :)

Hello, not sure you are still on the site, I have the same problem and wonder what would be the explanation for the sticky cover ? I intend to try the eucalyptus oil as soon as I find where to buy some in France. I only see "essential eucalyptus oil" is that the same ? Many thanks

The rear part cost £80 plus fitting. What’s so ridiculous about that??? It’s a professional solution to put something back to factory condition.

I understand why someone would seek a permanent, high-quality solution, rather than rewarding Bang & Olufsen for their poor choice of materials by having to repeatedly buy such parts.

I tend to find these products deteriorate due to the environment they are used or stored in. My mother in law has a BS4 and BL3’s and they are in mint condition still, these are both about 10 years old now.

My Beocom 2 table chargers have been placed in similar places around the house. I’ve owned B&O for 35 years, so I know not to place them in direct sunlight. Yet some charger domes have deteriorated to the point of crumbling, others are fine.

Whether this is due to quality control, age differences, or environmental factors, B&O never said to me “this product will seriously deteriorate if exposed to temperature x, or humidity level y, or random factor z”. All of these products are made to be used in the home, and should cope with normal household conditions without leaving sticky black marks on their customers’ manicured fingers.

So if you know what environmental factors are responsible, please do share. Then we might be happier to try replacing the coated parts at least once more to see if they stay as they are.

I have two Beocom2 ,15+years old,still in mint condition.But I have yellow BV1,still good working.Rear side,particularly cable cover,very sticky.It is a shame,such a good tv ,for that reason only,now wall mounted in garage.Definitely,there is something wrong with materials used at certain period.
