Hi, I've got a new addition: a Beolab 3500 MK 2 with SW 3.1XX

Problem: the OPTION (s) cannot be set. The combination LINK + (optinonnumber) + STORE does not work. On my operating LCS900 SW 1.0. this combination works well.

On the new MK2 definitely the IR module is not defective, because commands such as MENU MENU 04 GO are accepted and also acknowledged on the display.

Do you have a solution?

Best regards and thanks in advance!

Setting the option is different between BL1000 and Beo4, see below.

Both the BL3500 and main system have to be in standby when setting the option

Preprogramming the BeoLab 3500

The BeoLab 3500 can be preprogrammed for the following

setups (options):

Option 0. To be used if you want to disable remote control

operation of the BeoLab 3500 (to re-enable remote

control, select one of the other options).

Option 4. To be used if you install the BeoLab 3500 in

the same room as your central system (e.g. in a large

L-shaped living room with two separate listening

positions).

Option 5. To be used if you install a TV set in the same

room as you BeoLab 3500.

Option 6. To be used for a setup with the central system

in one room and the BeoLab 3500 in another, as described

in this guide (this is the factory setting).

Using a Beolink 1000:

– Press LINK, the appropriate

number (0, 4, 5 or 6), and

then STORE.

Using a Beo 4:

– Hold the • button while

pressing LIST.

When the Beo 4 display reads

OPTION?, press GO.

– Press LIST twice to display

L.OPT and then key in the

appropriate number (0, 4, 5

or 6).

The preprogramming is done with a Bang & Olufsen

remote control and must be carried out with both the

central and local system switched to stand-by!

Hi,

both the main system and the BL3500 have to be in standby mode. The way to set the option depends upon the remote you have. See below:

Hi,

both the main system and the BL3500 have to be in standby to set the option. Are you using a BL1000? if so, link + option number +store will work.  For Beo4, press list and standby at the same time, press List until  "Option?" is displayed, then press Go, press List twice until L.OPT is displayed, then key in the option number you want.

Hi,

thanks, but unfortunely this is not the solution...

Sure, both (BS4500 and the BL3500) are in stand by mode.

I'm using a Beolink5000 and a Beolink7000, both are working fine with my "old LCS900" by pressing the Code: LINK + "option-number 0-6" + STORE

But the new BL3500 does notthing :-(

Hi,

with my BL7000, to change the option I need to choose panel, setup, system, options in order to have "sound" displayed. Then I can press sound, the option number and then store. That works for me.

Sure, this is the right way. But instead of SOUND you have to press LINK to set the option on the BL3500. By pressing SOUND you change the option at youre audiomaster...

But in my case, there is NO reaction at the BL3500, even by pressing LINK or SOUND :-(

Have you tried setting your BL5000 or BL7000 to 1-way IR mode first?

A year is over, but the problem is not fixed :-(

Well... The BL3500 MK2 with SW 3.1 is not working. it's connected via powerlink with my (new) BS4. I can call all the menus with <menu><menu> 0X <go> but unfortunately not set the OPTION.

It is working (play music) when i call menu+menu+04+go  (Display "PL SEL."), but on every following remote command the BL3500 is switching off. I thought it's maybe a problem with the OPTION. But with the "normal" way, i can't change any option. LINK+optionnumber+STORE doesn't work. Also Beo4 command POWER+LIST / LISTscrolling to OPTION / L-OPT+ optionnumner is no reaction...

PLS help me :-)

Kind regards

Michael

Michael, are you still trying to set the option by using your Beolink 7000?

If so, did you try as I suggested to put the remote into 1-way mode FIRST, before trying to program the BL3500?

hafenkapitaen:
"old LCS900" by pressing the Code: LINK + "option-number 0-6" + STORE
Did you give the instruction

LINK 6 STORE

or

LINK 06 STORE

the first is correct for the BL3500.

How you connecting the "new" Beolab 3500?

The "old" LCS 9000 can either be connected by MCL cable or Masterlink cable. MKII BL3500 can be connected by Masterlink (or Powerlink when connected to Wireless) it does not have a MCL socket (MCL and Powerlink sockets look the same). That may be causing the problem.

Your BS4500 is MCL if I recall.

Right, That would also be my next question after reading the manual!

Maybe you are right!!! It's connected directly to the BS4 via Powerlink(3) cable. I've no masterlink cable here, but i will buy a new one. Hope that helps....

That will be your problem. You need to connect via MCL Big Smile

Good luck

Are you using BS4 or is that an error and have BS4500 they connect differently.

If it is a BS4 use Masterlink cable. If BS4500 it may not be compatible as it is a MKII speaker. Only MKI has MCL connector.

I will use it as the main speaker for the new BS4. Hope that works :-)

My BS4500 has two Beovox4500 an via PCL a refurbished LCS9000 as a soundbar on my TV

But i'm a little bit estonished that the powerlink  connection at the BL3500MK2 only works with a transmitter.. hm, we will see.

This is because it is not made to use as the main speaker and was usually used in another room as part of a Masterlink setup. The Wireless 1 transmitters are simply a "wireless" Beolink Active which is Masterlink in - Powerlink out.

Hopefully you get lucky and can make it work with Powerlink but it will definitely connect to your BS4 with Masterlink.

Unfortunately it was not the solution :-(

Yesterday i connected the BS4 directly via Masterlink cable to the BL3500. The time was indicated at the BL3500 BUT nothig else is working...

I checked the ML Connection with MENU+MENU+02+GO and ML ok ist displayed at the BL3500

It is NOT possible to change the OPTION at the BL3500...

Both are i the same room, the BS4 and the BL3500 are directly connected via ML, no other speakers are connected to the BS4.

What can i do???

what happens if you send the Menu 0 2 Go command with a Beo4 to the BL3500? Does it react? (Be presice, because your writing about Menu Menu 0 2 Go)

What happens if a CD plays on your BS4 with the ML connected BL3500 if you touch then the Mute button? Do you have sound?

Does your Beo4 (you use I presume, or BL1000) work with other B&o devices?

Have you tried LINK CD to turn on the CD via the BL3500. As it is a link speaker it should react to that.

You may need to add LINK to the remote.

Reading that post it seem that you were struggling because there was no feedback when you set the options and you were expecting to see something on the sceen. But also it seems that you needed to change the speaker setting from Powerlink to Masterlink.

To help others which OPTIONS did you use on the BS4 and BL3500.

I am vey glad this works.

I see that you want to use the BL3500 speaker with your BS4500. Others may be able to assist better, but  believe you can use a Beolink Convertor for this, however i think this requires the Converter to be of the newer type : 1161166. the older 1161466 is unable to perform this function. This basically adds Masterlink to your system. I used to have this with my BS4500, Beovision MX7000 and BL3500 . This was before I experimented with my systems so the dealer set it up for me and the BS4500 and Beolink convertor are now in storage so i can't assist with setting it up etc.

Good luck

Stoobie.
