What can you do with a MK I Beovision 9 with a screen that no longer turns on?

i understand your can’t repair it anymore.

it’s a mammoth TV to discard!

any ideas of what can be done  to it? put a new screen inside it? Repurpose it??

If it’s only the screen that’s at fault, be on the lookout for a BeoVision 4-50 Mk3 to use as a donor panel. This has a 1080p panel and will give noticeably better (more crisp) picture quality than the BV9 Mk1 that had a 720p screen. Also, the Mk3 has a camera that periodically and automatically adjusts the screen as it ages.

And you can keep your existing BS3 (at the back of the TV) because although it might not originally have been able to RECEIVE Freeview HD, it can process it from any of the 4 HDMI input sockets.

So it’s easy to fit the BV4-50 screen into the BV9?

I can’t see your membership level in the app, but if you’re Silver or Gold then you can download the service manuals for the BV4-50 and the BV9. You could then see the steps required for disassembly, etc.

I imagine that you’ll need a large workshop space to disassemble these two items and transplant the panel.

I’m not that technically capable, so I would entrust it to a dealer or specialist.

It isn't that easy as suggested. Sorry.

Juist replacing the panel, yes. No problem. When it comes to placing a camera from a more recent BV4 into the BV9, mk1. Then no. You need a new frame with the special milled space for the camera. You must be very handy to mill that space into the frame from the BV9.

The cables have a different length, which need to be adapted as the BV9 and BV4 differ in length and type of cables. The infrared from the BV9 enters first a different board before it passes through to the BS3.

I've done this for a customer who insisted on having his BV9 mk2 repaired and converted to a mk4 with camera.

So, basically, changing the panel itself is rather easy and possible. Building the extra camera inside the frame will cost a lot more time and/or money. Frames are probably not available anymore by now.

If you replace the panel from one to another. Don't forget the transfer the specific parameters from new panel. These are not automatically measured by the camera.

Is there the possibility of using a non B&O panel? Like a LCD that will fit inside?

does the beosystem 3 at the back come apart so you can use it for other purpose?
