Dear all, long time no see :)

I got opportunity to buy used BL 4000  mkII, serial 20659034 ( I think production year is 2008 or 2009) for incredible price of 130 euro. But There is a catch ... one of the speakers are not working, no sound only blinking light red/green.

So I'm interested what kind of problem I can expect .... ?

Found here there is some foam problems (melting black foam) on earlier mk1 models, and some fuse problems on same age mkI1 models.

But is there any info about mkII problems with similar symptoms ?

The Beolab 4000 Mk II have a problem with their ICE Power amplifiers. After about 8-10 years of use, they start to make a loud scratching noise as if a bad electrical contact occurred. But the status light remain green.

The solution is to replace/repair the defective amplifier board.

For the Mark I, somebody mentioned that the standby tranformers sometimes fail. You should search the forum archives about this.

Regards,

Jean

I have the BL4000 as rear speakers for more than ten years. Got one of the amp replaced around two years ago and the other one is developing a sharp static noise recently. So seems like it’s time to replace the amp for this side as well.

BL8000, BL10, BL4000, BL2, BL3 (Sold), Beocentre 2 (Sold), Beosystem 3, LG C8
