I have a Playmaker and getting hooked up to the router for a software update is a pain. Does any one know the current software build? I have 1.00.2196.

I have lots of wifi related dropouts. No similar issues on two iPads, iPhone, Apple TVs, etc. I'm hoping it's software issue. Otherwise it's ok. Single function simple, with Beo4 support! I don't care much for the smoke detector aesthetic however.

Hi,

No - this update did not make any difference to me. B&O says it solves issues related to connecting to the nearest access point and other minor bugs.

I'm also experiencing wifi issues with 1.00.2196. That's a pity because the playmaker is a very nice piece of equipment from a functional perspective. Just installed update 1.00.2485. I will post my results.

I will install it in the next couple of days.

I too think it's a good effort by B&O. Unfortunately the one thing that would make it outstanding is out of their hands. The ability to Airplay to multiple Airplay Speakers from an iOS or ATV would make this a really great product. I know it can be done from a Mac, but I don't like having to fiddle with my computer to listen to music around the house. Let's hope Apple gets this done. I had my whole house on ML until I moved recently, so I'm spoiled!

Like I said in my original post: The aesthetics are completely off, but I can live with it.

Since I don't have WiFi issues I can't report anything about this - but with the new version
we've got balance adjustment as well as tone control via "Speaker" and "A.Setup"

I've updated the unit to the latest firmware. After two days I can report that I've had no dropouts at all. Perhaps it's premature to say this made the difference, but before updating, the dropouts were constant over a period of several days.

As far as the update process, it was surprisingly slow. At least it seemed that way.

I'm running 1.00.2485 for a couple of days now. To me the software update makes a world of a difference. I've not had one single connection dropped since the install. I'm enjoying it very much now, really much much better.

My PM runs on the original software without any problems.

I think the update was very smooth.

1) connected the Playmaker to the router with cable

2) went into the setup app on the iPhone

3) selected software upgrade. Answered yes on a question.

4) upgrade started and took a few minutes. The Playmaker restarted.

5) Once steady white light was on, I unplugged from router and placed it where it is usually is placed.

6) It connected to the WLAN without problem.

Did you use the app on iPhone?

Your Playmaker should show up up under "Products found in your network"

Select the playmaker.

Then select "update product software"

The the app will guide you.

Not that I don't know how to do it...

....but my PM is hid away,

To get the networkcable connected you have to remove the other cables.

Opening and closing the PM wasn't that easy either.

Some people even complain that the updating-process is not smooth at all.

My BM runs perfect at the moment.

These things all together tell me NOT to do the update at the moment. So why should I?

Sure, it´s up to everyone do decide on upgrade or not.

Since you wrote that the "update procedure" was a pain, I thought there was a problem.

Agree that its tricky to open the PM, and if it´s tucked away that adds to it.

But the update procedure as such is quite easy I must say.

Thanks Hiort,

I did follow all the steps, but the last step "app will guide me part" is not happening......

Weird thing is that if I connect PM to ethernet cable first and switch on the power, my iPhone would not find PM at all, but when disconnected from ethernet cable, iPhone would find PM.

I'll give it  a try again, hopefully it works !!

Having to plug it into the base station seems a bit old fashion to me. I understand why they feel it should be done this way, but there are lots of devices that don't need a wired connection to be updated. For example, ATV, Ipod Touch, Iphone, Ipad, etc.

I'm the first one to admit that wifi can be flaky, but surely having to uninstall your system to update is not the best way.

I will do the firmware update.

Presently my PM is connected to the network so I don't see why I need to connect to Ethernet. But if its the way then so be it.

Perhaps there might be a firmware update that fixes this lol.

I'm not having any issues with my PM. I love it! And the aesthetics.

As I understand it you need to plug in an ethernet cable even if its on the wlan.
