I think you haven't gotten any answers as your question is quite unclear....
ATV3, by this you mean apple tv? I don't think there's any support for VGA on the Appletv.
Too long to list....
What does the BV7 manual say?
If the VGA is an input and there's an adaptor (with some electronics inside it) it should work.
Does your BV7 have component video-in.
You can get an adapter HDMI to component plus sound (stereo) as well.
Have a look here:

Maybe that could be "your" solution?
Greetings Millemissen
There is a tv - and there is a BV
kai:does the mk 2 have a VGA socket
If it is a BeoVision 7 - 40 MK II (Type 9361-9369) there is a VGA socket- but this is a Projector OUTPUT (D-sub VGA 15 pin female)
But there is a more versatile solution - have a look at this thread ...

Trouble is that the MK2 has not any HDMI-input.
Of cource you can use a Gefen-switch-solution, but - as described in the linked page - you won't get any audio, unless you handle with so kind of audioswitch too.
The question from kai was how to connect a ATV3 to his BV7-40 MK2.
Therefore my answer can only be: use an "HDMI to Component-video plus analog audio"-converter.
As an example the Atlona:
www.atlona.com/Atlona-HDMI-to-VGA-Component-Stereo-Audio-Format-Converter.html
Google for other brands in your area.
OR use the DVI-input with a HDMI to DVI-connector and an audioconverter/optical-digital to analog audio:

The VGA is only output - great for creating a cinema-setup, but not for connecting a HDMI-source.
