I have a beolab 4000 that delays for 30 or 40 seconds in between disc changes. It belongs to a family friend and apparently has not always done this. I have scoured over the manuals and googled everything I can think of but cannot find any timing options for the life of me. Does anyone know a fix, or alternately a way to restore factory settings?

Beolab 4000 are speakers...I guess they won't delay your disc changes...Wink

Could you be a bit more specific about this system..? Could it be a BeoSound 4 you're talking about?

(edit)

(On second thought): Talking about disc changes - the only reason for delay on a BS 4 would be the person who change the disc Laughing

Maybe your friend has a BeoSound 9000..? (the one with 6 CD's?)

It does have 6 CDs. When you change from the remote it lags for a bit and then switches to the next disc and displays "cleaning required". I have tried spraying out all the dust with compressed air, he also said something about a cleaning disc?

The only thing I can find on the manuals is Beolab 4000 and Beo4 in the remote control manual.

I think you might be talking about the Beosound 9000. Yeah your friend has to get it serviced at least once a year. The model is horribly undependable. Beautiful to look at but not practical on any level.

A trifle hard on a B&O classic! However the diagnosis is probably right - it needs servicing and a good clean. I think yearly would be highly abnormal though unless the room is very smoky!

It is a Beosound 9000.

Stichh:
"cleaning required".

Its a very iconic piece of kit so maybe it deserves a trip for a service. I have two of them and one since 2004 without a days trouble and never had it serviced.
