Hi Lee,

Thank you, that is great. I fearthe shipping cost to Australia makes it less practical so if you can, i would be happy for you to redraw this prize, select a alternate worthy ricipient or keep it yourself, your choice. I am just happy to support and  e part of tghis community.

I have just moved into our new home so am about to setup my B&O gear again integrated through the ML gateway, hope my wiring and setup will be smooth sailing.

Regards,
Corvin.

1st Prize - a pair of Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 8000 Active Loudspeakers

Yes - First Prize this Christmas is an absolutely beautiful pair of Bang & Olufsen BeoLab 8000 Active Loudspeakers, donated by LifeStyle AV !! These gorgeous pillars of stylish sound are in absolutely amazing condition and even carry a 12 Month warranty for the lucky winner. With a new price of almost £3,000 if you were to replace them today, you'll be whooping with Christmas delight if you win these - and no doubt your neighbours will be whooping with lack of delight at the party emanating from your property when they're hooked up and working!! Never mind though - it's Christmas time and they'll be accommodating we're sure...

The Lucky Winner is…

Mr M. Olsson (mibook84) from Bastad, Sweden    (and now for the puns..)

It's another Scandinavian whitewash, the same as last month!  I'm starting to look at myself with suspicion, but my circuits are working perfectly! Yes, the same as last month - 50% of the prizes have gone back to the general area of Santa Claus (payback?) with Europe and Australia gladly taking the scraps left over!

Anyway - amazing.. and all for the price of a months Gold Membership - you  just can't get this anywhere else!! Enjoy your new Bang & Olufsen speakers Mr Olsson..

Well – that wraps up another exciting BeoWorld Christmas Prize Draw!!  9 LEE will be in touch with all winners within 72 hours to arrange despatch of their Prizes, and all that remains is to thank you for attending, thank you for being Gold Members – and thank you all for being part of the best site on the internet!!

Goodbye until March as the Prize Draws are now going quarterly, with even lovelier prizes!!  Have a wonderful New Year, take care - and enjoy your prize-winnings everyone!

WOW! I can not believe it! I never win anything. I am shaking of excitement and I am trying to sit still but it is almost impossible Big Smile. I completely missed the prize draw (christmas and new years celebration takes a lot of time Smile).

I saw an email just now about that I had won something and I went over to beoworld right away. Very fun too see all the prizes, winners and my own name in the end with the first prize! Unbelievable. This truly is an amazing place on the net and I love to chat on beoworld as often as I can. Don't know what to say really. What else can I say than Thanks so much BeoWorld!!

Have to go back to sleep (it´s 05.30 in the morning here in Båstad) but I´ll make sure to answer all the comments tomorrow :).

Still can not believe it! I hope everyone had a very nice new years eve, christmas and holidays!

That's a very nice prize to give up Corvin! It shouldn't cost too much to have it shipped to Australia...

I'd rethink your decision if I were you!

I forgot to login for the draw. Surprise

It was a fantastic lineup of prices, and it was great fun to see Sweden and Båstad getting the first price.

I found my wife in Båstad (she grew up there) many years ago, and that was a first price for me Smile !

Sorry for all my replies at once! I just felt that I should thank for all congratulations :) (Perhaps it would be easier just to say it once clearly but that´s a bit to late now Smile).

The speakers are currently enjoying a tour of europ. They should be here tomorrow according to their travel bureau.

They have been busy traveling thru half of the UK and parts of Germany. I am sure they are having a very comfortable trip!

Leslie, it said in the e-mail sent to the winners that the postage cost is on the sticker on the parcel, otherwise contact them directly by email to get the cost if shipped with a courier.

Hi friends!

My prize, the BL8000, arrived last friday! I am very exited and happy about that. I assembled them today but had a small problem.

The bases comes in a package by themselves and the speakers in another package. (The bases weigh 10KG each, probably as much as the speakers do, I weighted them Smile).

I noticed that one of the speaker had a small scuffmark around the end of the cone where it meets the base.

I assembled it with one of the bases and everything was fine except for the small mark (doesnt really matter to me).

Then I assembled the other speaker and noticed that no matter how hard I turned the nut on the bottom of the base the speaker would not be fixed but instead lean a bit and possible to turn in any direction (Not fixated to the front).

I then thought perhaps the first speaker with the mark was damaged somehow at the previous owner so I took the bases of and changed them, now the speaker with the scuffmark is leaning and is possible to turn. The other one is not.

Anyone know if I can do something about it? It seems to be the base that has the problem. Can I put something in between to keep it steady? I used the nut and brick just as in the instructions.

This is just a small problem but I want to ask if anyone has a solution. I noticed some time back while visiting a friend that her BL8000´s also was loose and that you could turn them in any direction. She liked that they where like that but I think they should be rock solid :). I also noticed that one of the bases came with completely flat rubber feet and the other one with higher rubber feet. Not an issue either since I can adjust the height of them by turning the screws, but if anyone know other rubber-feet that fits the BL8000 stands I would be happy to know so I can purchase the same for both speakers!

Thanks again for these beautiful speakers, they came well packaged and they look very good! I have yet to connect them to anything, wanting to see if there is something I have to do first with the bases.

Regards, Michael

Michael bl8000's should tighten up full. I have two sets and there is no movement in them.

As the base is cast iron and cannot be distorted it must be the speakers. looking at your picture i wonder have the nuts been over tightened before ?

Michael:

There should be a washer between the nut and the base.

Hello Valve,

Yes I use the washer (thought it was called a brick, a large flat round metal plate with a hole in the middle). I am not sure but impossible to pull harder, at least I don't dare to.

I did change the bases and the wobbling/leaning followed the base to the other speaker. And the one before stood good with the other base.

There is a golden (bronze or copper perhaps?) pipe in the bases that the speakers screw goes thru. I think this might have been damaged somehow. Perhaps been transported in its base and then been bent or something?

I also have another pair and they are also not moving a bit.

Ok that is  a place to start. i have never examined the brass(?) sleeve in the base but if you compare them do they look different ?

As one of your 8000's is being pulled through the base  you could use a piece of lead ( flashing used for roof/chimney work) to pack it out. its easy to cut and shape.

Im not sure I understand exactly what you mean, but I noticed that one of them had the inner "pipe" a bit lower inside, at least from the bottom side. I think it is possible to adjust but you will need a special tool. Takes so much energy to take them apart and I don't want to damage anything so I try not to do anything unneccesarry.

An easy fix is to wrap Teflon (plumbers tape) around the conical part of the speaker and then tighten the nut until the speaker is steady.

I don't have BL8000's, but looking at the manuals does picture 2 in the wall fitting manual give a clue as to what fittings should be in each base ( assuming the base fixing is similar)?

I was suggesting using lead (pb -plumbium) sheet to pack around the bottom of the 8000 before inserting it into the cast iron block. It is very easy to work and once in place would be ok. Sorens suggestion to use plumbers tape (ptfe tape is what we call it here) is the same idea but you would be wrapping a lot of it.

These threads aren't really the best place to ask about prize deliveries and other details - please send email to 9 LEE. He is taking care of all the logistics on behalf of PrizeDrawBot. He is a busy man and most probably will miss your enquiries once they are buried between other posts and images just as has happened this time. None of the other readers nor the moderators can do anything to help - except send email to 9 LEE alerting him to a post somewhere. It's a lot faster if you do it yourself and directly describe what the issue is.

I would take a look at the base attachment of my BL8000s but I don't seem to have a suitable wrench at home.

Interesting if you look at this pair of bases on Lifestyle website. One base seems to have a slightly raised collar, whilst the other could have a ptfe coated thread!

Thank you Mika - and yes, you're right, I didn't see this thread as I've been working very long hours and not really having chance to check the forums properly.

If the 8000's are faulty, I apologise. I bought them to donate to the BeoWorld Prize Draw in good faith, and clearly never spotted they weren't seating correctly as they were disassembled when they were collected. I wired up the bodies and tested the sound to make sure they worked, which they did - then re-packed them after a good clean.

Please take them to your nearest B&O service center, have them repaired, and send me the bill.  I don't wish to be giving away faulty prizes, so once again - my apologies, and I will of course make this right.

As for the Prize Draw now being quarterly, yes - I  'put it out there' and found nobody seemed too concerned, so gave a years notice that it would change.  The Prizes will be slightly improved though as the cost to BeoWorld will be less than doing it monthly, plus hopefully it will be more of an "event" if it's quarterly.  The effort which goes into a monthly draw is huge, and then to find no more than a handful of people online for it was disappointing to say the least.

If anyone feels duped, cheated or simply unhappy - please let me know by PM or Email and i will happily refund the remainder of your Gold Membership.  The draw was meant to be a 'thank you' to the members - and many people have won and been very happy. To those who haven't - once again, I can only offer my apologies as the draw is completely random.

So - lots of apologies, and if I can do anything for anyone - please let me know and i'll make it so if i'm able..

Regards

Lee

Hi Lee!

Thanks for your answer. I know I should probably have started a new thread or just sent a PM but I did just want to try and fix it if that was possible :). I have been busy as always and I am not sure they need repair. I´ll have a look at them and see what I can do first at least.

I did like you suggested, Mika, but with no luck!

I'll try one more time here... With the risk of sounding desperate...

@9 LEE

I haven't received an email about winning the 10th prize, and I've tried to make you aware of it over email and on the forum but without any luck - And I am not able to send you a PM?

I know you're busy, and there's no rush, I just wanted to make you aware of it - The other guys have received their prizes, so I guess I should have received an email as well.
