Hi there

I have a fairly old 6-22 that i'm trying to connect to a PS3. I tried the cable with the 3 coloured plugs to scart socket, with dreadful results. I now have a DVI/HDMI adaptor from my friendly local store. I have put PC on my Beo 4 but how do i get the 6 to recognise the DVI socket. The options i have are audio=stb/decoder/expander/Vtap  AV=the same

What do i use on the Beo4? PC. There is no option for PC on the 6-22 menu.

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Hi Chris,

under "connections" there must be more options for the sockets!

You must be able to assign the DVI to PC there - audio is connected via the  red/white-sockets.

Be sure to choose the right settings in the PS3 also.

But do not expect to much from this tv.

Watching analog-tv (or downconverted digi-tv) might be ok, and connecting a pc also -

But  for a PS3 I would choose something more uptodate.

Greetings Millemissen

Hey Chris,

This might not be possible, but below are the official instructions. Selecting PC on the Beo4 does look at the DVI on the BV6, but the video source has to be a resolution the TV can handle, and the below instructions also state the device has to have a DVI output not a VGA - i don't think a DVI-HDMI adaptor will work.

Happy new year!

How do I use BeoVision 6 as a PC monitor ?

At first please note that BeoVision 6 is a TV and not a dedicated PC monitor. However it will be possible to connect your PC to BeoVision 6 with very good results, but some requirements must be fulfilled: Your PC must have a DVI-D or DVI-I connector. It will not be possible to connect a PC via VGA connectors.

Important: It is very important that you turn off your computer and your BV6 while connecting the two products. If not there is a big risk that the display adapter module (graphic card) in your PC will be damaged.

BeoVision 6 supports 3 formats:

480 x 640

800 x 600

1280 x 720 (this is the preferred format)

This means that the BeoVision 6 tells the PC which formats it supports and normally the setup will choose the optimum setting. However it will be possible via the display adapter module (graphic card) in the PC to optimize the choice if it is not automatically optimized.

Note that for the smaller formats the picture from the PC is not scaled to fill out the complete screen, but will be shown in the middle of the LCD screen.

Also please note that settings such as brilliance, contrast etc. must be done in the PC and not on the BeoVision 6 itself.

Operation: Simply choose "PC" in the Beo4 list and press "Go". If "PC" is not present in the "List" you have to add it as usual (consult your User Guide if you need more details).

My problem is that I go into TV, then try to find dvi in options but I can't. Just v.aux v tape etc

Seems that the 6-22 has a DVI-input (and no composite), which was at that time meant only for connectiing a pc.

Wonder if there is nothing to configure - it detects the imput (see description in the post above) automatically.

Means, if device is connected in the right way (by using the HDMI to DVI-adapter)  just press PC on the Beo4.

A problem might be that the outputformat of the PS3 should not be more that 1280x720.

Sound should be connected to the analog (right/left) input.

.Does the PS3 have an anolog sound-output? If only a digital, you would need a converter.

Would be nice to hear if you succeeed.

Yes that is correct - there is nothing to select - PC on that TV always looks at the DVI input and analogue audio left and right connectors - it is not configurable.

Ok thanks. I'll let you know. Considering the PS3 can do Blu Ray and Internet with apps like Netflix, it could breath life into some decent albeit mature LCD tvs. All for £130!

Well very strange. I have just connected to Apple TV 2 to the HDMI/DVI converter and *** the bed, a picture. No sound of course and it wouldn't let me play a film due HDCP issues i think. The thing is it displayed a perfectly reasonable picture, so why when i attach the HDMI cable to the PS3..blank.

Have tried all the settings on the PS3, and got set the picture to 576 quality. Again nothing. Strange as the picture from Apple TV is HD!

Maybe a call to Lifestyle....

Firstly switch off the tv from the mains and turn it on again after a couple of minutes - might sometimes work.

Or try another HDMI/DVI-adapter - they are not all good.

Handshakingproblems - might not work at all if the tv is not HDReady

Grrr! Millemissen

If you haven't got anything connected to the SCART sockets you can buy a lead that comes out of the AV output on PS3 to SCART and use RGB - if the TV is not HD then the picture at that size of screen anyway will still be excellent. You need to go into the settings on the PS3 to configure it. I used the lead on an Avant with great results - pays to buy a decent lead rather than the one Sony give you.

Well I tried the RGB to PS3 cable that arrived today, and yes it's better than the scart to scart cable. But compared to when it's connected to a Samsung TV of similar age but by hdmi it's like wearing very dirty glasses.

No matter what a reseller tells you, it's hdmi for hd or nothing.
