Hello all!

I'm planning to add a Playmaker as a bridge between the digital music stored on a NAS and my ML system.

The idea is to hook one of the Playmaker's PL-Outs to the Aux-in of my Beocenter 2.

According to several threads on the forums, this should work.

BUT...

When adding the Playmaker  in the main zone, config tool 6.00 states "the product has no Master Link" and refuses to add the product, either as an accessory or a device connected to BC2 aux input.

I do not wish to add Playmaker in another zone, since it would be an auxiliary source of the BC2,which means that both have to be turned on.

Any idea?

Thanks by advance and kind regads,

Yann.

Hi,

Here you have a product xml that has ML feature and can be added in a zone together with an video master.

Place it into the folder "C:\Bang & Olufsen\Beo5 Configuration Tool\Products\10.Audio\25.BeoPlay". it adds the product Playmaker (ML)

Hope this helps.

Attached is an XML file which allows Playmaker to be an accessory.

Extract the zip file to C:\ and it will be placed in the correct directory.

After testing...

The ML xml deleted the BC2 in the main zone, but offers Airplay + Line-in.

The accessory xml created a Airplay command on the main screen, but line-in is not available.

Is it possible to get both functions, in the accesssory xml?

Kind regards,

Yann.

Keith,

I confirm that Line-in is not available, when the Aux-in input of BC2 is activated.

Option1: If I activate BC2 aux-in, I get A.AUX on the screen and no Line in.

Option 2: If I de-activate BC2 aux-in, Line In appears on the screen. but no A Aux.

Since Playmaker should be connected to BC2 Aux-in, what is your recommandation?

Thanks by advance and kind regards,

Yann.

Hi Yann,

As far as I can see, Playmaker's Line in is activated by the A.Aux command. When you choose option 1 just rename the button A.Aux to your wish and it will work as follows: Beo6 sends command a.aux which will activate BC2's aux input and start PM's Line in.

Edit: You don't even have to add PM to your config to make it work this way.

Thanks hfat,

2 questions:

1 --> If I well understand what you mean, Playmaker should be in sight of the Beo6. If I wish to hide it somewhere (ideally in the technical closet where all my peripherals are gathered), the only way to command the PM would be an iDevice.

2 ---> The xml file you sent me enabled ML for Playmaker.

I have an old Beolink converter used in the past to connect my Beocenter 9000 to an Avant:

One 7 pins Din plug on one side and one ML plug at the other side.

Could I use it to connect Playmaker to the Link system?

If yes, what kind of cable would I need?

Kind regards,

Yann.

1: in my understanding you cannot activate any AirPlay-/line-in-source UNLESS you feed it with content.

The PM acts as a "bridge" between your ML-Based system and the iOs-/line-in-sources - which are locally/extern managed.

All you can do is to rename the "button" on the Beo5/6 from A-AUX to Line or AirPlay, which would have the same results on the PM: opening the ports of the PM depending on how you are actually feeding it.

You could even call it "YannPlay" if you want Stick out tongue

Therefore you can easily stove your PM away. You do not need to touch or see it, if it is in fixedline-mode and Option 0 - and connected to the A-AUX of your system.

2: NO!

By the way: connecting a PM to the Line-in/A-Aux/A-Tape of a ML-based audiomaster indeed works very well - and it is even officially recommended by B&O.
