Hunting for a pair of Beolabs for the bedroom. What could be more lovely than waking up to Mozart at 6:30am before 3 young kids come rushing in at 7am asking for whole day of entertainment during the family COVID19 self-isolation? At present I have a horrible iPhone alarm tone to shatter me from my slumber. I’m thinking about a pair of BL6002 or BL6000. Is the BL6002 (about £600-£650) worth paying more for over the BL6000 (£400-£450)?

I’ve also seen mention of the ‘Chanterelle’ colour version of the BL6002 which would look divine in the room but not seen one in the flesh. Has anyone seen it or had this colour?

Present: BL90, Core, BL6000, CD7000, Beogram 7000, Essence Remote.

Past: BL1, BL2, BL8000, BS9000, BL5, BC2, BS5, BV5, BV4-50, Beosystem 3, BL3, DVD1, Beoremote 4, Moment.

I have had a pair of 6002, but I unfortunately sold them. Then it comes to sound the Beolab 6002 can not be compared to the 6000, they are much much better. I also had 6000 at the time and did a comparison, and I was surprised by the huge difference. I was most surprised by the difference in weight, with the 6002 being noticeably lighter. If I find another pair for a reasonable price I will definitely buy them!

I confirm the improved sound of the 6002, more dynamic and with more bass.

I don't remember anyone at the time claiming audio improvements for the X000 to X002 change. I thought the main change was from linear amps to Icepower, primarily to meet EU standby power requirements rather than a performance upgrade.

On the other hand I may have just made all of that up!Laughing

Ban boring signatures!

It seems that there is no sound difference for the 8000 MKII vs 8002. For Karel, I did compare the 6002 and 8002 I am owning too: There is a difference to the advantage of 8002, but not big.

6002 sound better than the 6000s especially the earlier 6000s. More clarity and punch in the bass. I heard them both side by side and ended up buying the 6000 (and BL 11) because only the 6000s was in stock in red at the time! It was a really tough decision but the final logic was that the aesthetics was a big reason for the purchase and the red speakers and subwoofer looked amazing. At the time our TV also had a matching frame.

B&O in my life 😊:

  • Beosound 1 with wireless dock (Portable)

  • Beoplay P6 (Portable)
