Hi all, this is my first post on here so apologies if this isn't quite in the correct place!

I bought a used Beogram 1700 off eBay a couple of years back which had a damaged tonearm, and was cheap as a result! I thought I'd have a go at repairing it. I got myself a replacement tonearm from a B&O specialist webdealer in Denmark.

The turntable was powering on fine, but obviously I couldn't play anything on it due to the tonearm damage.

Now, I managed to replace the tonearm, using a multimeter to identify which of the tiny copper wires are which and soldering them to the 5-pin connector points.

After my repair work, I go to give the turntable a spin, and it no longer powers on.

I'm completely lost with it and have no idea where to start. Any help would be greatly appreciated. There seem to be some very knowledgeable people on these forums.

Thanks in advance for any help ...

What's the model number of your BG1700?
Did you unplug any connectors from the control board when fixing the tonearm and if so, did you plug them back in properly?

The control board looks pretty simple on the BG1700. First check whether you get 12VDC from the power supply (connector P5, pin 1 to GND on BG1700-5731 or 5733).

Does the platter rotate, when you press TURN?
Record on the platter?
Record sensing switch working?

Hi Ben,

I have similar issues with my 1700 after (stupidly) moving the tone arm manually left-to-right.  Now the 33 button doesn't activate the lift sequence.  The Turn button does turn the platter.

So, I may have an electrical issue and mechanical ...  Just not sure where to start.

Thanks for sharing your experience.

Best, Vic
