Hi,

I am totally frustrated as to why I can not get 5.1 out of my bv7 32!

i have tried many DVDs and I am sure they are encoded in 5.1. I have 2 x 6002 as front, 7.1 centre, beolab 2 sub and 2 x beolab 4 as rears. They are all connected by powerlink cables and they all turn on and off along with the tv power.

I have double checked the audio settings a million times and have all the speakers set up (except the rears are set to beolab 4000 because there is no beolab 4 setting) + I have default number of speakers for video = 5. Sound system is Dolby Pro Logic and this can not be changed.

Am I missing something here?

Every time I check the audio on a DVD by pressing the red button it states Dolby Digital 3 / 2.1 CH. I have tried a number of DVDs and can not get it to change.

There is some sound out of the rear speakers but its not true surround sound and sounds like pro logic type effects.

Can anyone pease help me to get true 5.1 out of this system?

thanks in advance.

Did you select the right DD or DTS audio track on the DVD discmenu?

Thanks for your reply but yes I did. I checked the DVD setup menu and the disc menu.

i was just thinking last night that perhaps this is a grammatical interpretation problem. Perhaps "Dolby Digital 3/2.1 CH" actually means Dolby Digital 5.1 but written as 3 front and 2 rear plus sub?

Could someone who is confident they have set up their system properly please check what is written when they press the red button while watching a DVD in DD 5.1?

It could perhaps just be my perception and it is actually in 5.1 and not pro logic.

Thanks.

Want to name the DVD just in case it is in my/our collections - that might simplify the testing

Hi thematsta,

could you please tell us a little more of your BV7-32?

Which MK? How old? Serialnumber?

Is it the internal dvd-player?

If yes, are there any options in the settings to choose preferred soundformat?

Greetings Millemissen

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Dear all. In BV 7-32 (maybe also in 7-40), the built-in DVD shows always Dolby Digital 3 / 2.1 CH. That means 5.1. It means 3 channels in the front, 2 at the rear and one LFE channel (subwoofer). Smile

Hi all,

Thank you for your willingness to help but. Agree the after some more research and testing with known DVD's it is actually playing 5.1 but written as 3/2.1 ch.  it seems this is not unique to b&o but also some older Sony and Marantz decoders.

Thanks again for your replies.
