Hi friends!  My friend gave me a BeoVision 7-40 television recently. It is in perfect condition as he hardly used it.  However, it has no remote. I ordered a replacement remote that is NOT B & O but is supposed to work with these TVs. My question is how to turn on the television?  I can’t find a power switch anywhere.  I am able to load and unload DVDs into the unit and I see a red light indicating the unit has power.  I just don’t know where to find a button. Please help me!  Thanks!

Without the remote there is no physical button on de device to turn it on.

With the tv plugged in, you should be able to eject the dvd mechanism even if the screen is off. Gently press the bar above and to the right of the dvd “bulge”.

having said that it is possible to disable the sensitouch button Via the tv options so if it doesn’t work then it isn’t definitively broken.

seatch eBay for a cheap beo4 remote - they come up often

So there is no way to turn on this television without a FACTORY B & O remote???

A Logitech Harmony can send the B&O IR frequency.  Driving a TV is a little cumbersome using Logitech's app on an iPhone -- the Beovision panel is spread across 4 screenfuls -- but it works.  (Note the Harmony cannot receive the IR frequency, so it cannot learn new buttons; you must live with their almost-complete panel of buttons.)

The short answer is no: a remote is needed to turn on the TV. The Beovision 7-40 is designed to be operated with the Beo4 remote, which as I say often gone up for sale cheap on eBay (expect to pay £20 to £50 for an older model - newer models are more expensive)

I’m aware there are non-B&O replacement remotes on eBay as well (around £11 I think) but I have no experience of them. Interested to hear how you get on with yours as I thinking of getting one so my toddler doesn’t break/hurt himself with the heavy beo4!
